BTW ... is the national average actually around 8 now?

I always remember it being closer to 10-11.

    If so ... nice!

In my hall there were 2 unbaptized guys doing microphones. They weren't even publishers™. One had downs syndrome and the other was an 8 year old kid. I wasn't allowed to do microphones because they removed all my privileges because I was taking a part time course.

Now that's gotta make ya feel good about yourself...

I get the warm and fuzzy's just thinking about it...

As of August 2007, the national average was 9.5 hours (US). It tends to hover about that range.

Hey! Hubby's been promoted to microphone handling. Mister "bad association - just look at his wife..." must have moved up. Or they are short of qualified brothers.

I grew up in a congregation that is in a rural area and was always struggling to survive. At one point there were only two elders. It was like that for a long time. We had no mics. We substituted that duty for rat chasing or tending the fire in the winter. At times there would onl be like ten people in attendence.

Wow, I did not realize how bitchin' that was at the time. Probably since I was put to doing bible reading talks at like 7.

Sister says, I met a really spiritual brother, I think he will make a good husband.

Friend says, Great....How do you know?

Sister says, He handles the mics!!!!!

The organization sure doesn't see their sisters as useful. They have very little role in the congregation - except for cleaning. How uplifting. Why not let the sisters handle the microphones?

Shortly before my departure in the hall I attended they had appointed two sisters in charge of accounts & literature.

So, why not carry a mic?

I have seen unbaptized boys do the timing at the theocratic school!!!!!!!!!!

I have seen unbaptized men asked to say the prayer at the book study!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have seen unbaptized men put in charge of field service.

I have seen reinstated or reproved male jws "on restrictions" put in charge of field circus.

Funny thing about sisters and carrying microphones... I agree, they should be 'allowed' to run sound, run mic's, whatever they want to do to help. But... I don't recall EVER seeing anything in writing, even as an elder, that said sisters can't run microphones. Is this just one of those "tradition" things that has no basis in actual WT writings? I'd love to see a reference that specifically says "ONLY brothers can run sound or mics".
