It's always been amusing to me that so many of the western states that tout 'self-reliance' are also the biggest beneficiaries of the federal govt largess. Those of us in the cities, and the NE pay far more in than we get out, yet still see the benefit of a standard of living enforeced by the government.

Florida Power and Light supplies my power, not the government. My phone is wireless, not a state enterprise, my internet is also wireless and provided by a private enterprise.

As for my road, it is shell stone and private. And the main road could just as well be provided by a private enterprise, no different than the rest of my services.
