My own observation--the higher the rate of pot smoking, the higher the probability in buying into conspiracy theories.

There was a movie out in 1988 called "They Live" starring Rowdy Roddy Piper. In the movie he finds a pair of sunglasses that allowed him to see the world as it really was. It's an interesting watch. I believe life imitates art and vice-versa. Maybe pot is what allows it's partakers to see through the crap and really see the world as it truthfully is.

Look at the musicians in the 70's who smoked pot and saw things for what they really were. I'm remembering a thread here not long ago about great protest songs.

If the good men at the watchtower are power hungry manipulative liars, how much more so the sociopaths that run this world.

"My own observation--the higher the rate of pot smoking, the higher the probability in buying into conspiracy theories".

Do tell my friend how you came to this conclusion, since I smoke daily and haven't fallen prey to not even one conspiracy theory... No one I hang with has such views?

and to the last poster... the "good men that run the WT organization"...????? Just kidding right? Maybe you need some pot.

White Dove-the way to find truth is to listen to all sides of an issue... have you watched any engineers explain the WTC destruction? If not, then I suggest you do before formulating your opinion.

No, it is like saying that it is impossible to keep such huge operations secret. Hitlers 'experiments' were well known even at their embryonic stage by numerous individuals and bodies.

As with most things there is seldom a black or white answer. Governments do have hidden agendas that are not shared with the world at large. None Dare Call It Conspiracy by Gary Allen 1971 was a superb book which I read about 30 yeras ago.

While caution is a good thing, what has to be guarded against is starting to believe that everything that happens is a conspiracy. Elvis lives and probably shares a new york apartment with Jesus. Neil Armstrong never walked on the moon. There is a cover up of flying saucers. People are abducted by aliens every day but the government are covering it up. And so on.

Paranoia means being suspicious without reason or a disturbed thought process characterized by excessive anxiety or fear, often to the point of irrationality and delusion. ( yes I did Google that) Once we start to believe that everything is a conspiracy we are delusional.

Every body hates me, people are staring at me, my life is not worth living, my partner is plotting to kill me. I alone know the truth and everyone else is going to die. These are other delusional states and a sign of low self esteem. Unfortunately living by a set of delusional beliefs is a common trait of humans.

Hey! That's how we all got be on this board.

If you study the history of the Watchtower Society it is a study of behavior which parallels and mirrors Conspiracy to defraud.

Russell assembled from here and there titillating, fear-inspiring, mysterious and outrageous ideas from the crackpot community.

He put a religious spin on this cut and paste conspiracy, added pyramidology to it and labelled mainstream Christianity as the real fraud.

He set dates, convinced people of an invisible second-coming and predicted the end of the world.

Remember, the "conspiracy" only has to sound plausible and thrilling and make everybody trustworthy sound like crooks.

Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of people.

Religious and governmental conspiracies work best when a person is willing to think the absolute worst of his fellow man.

The Watchtower Society was organized to be a business. It still is. For a long while, the Corporation ran things (in the person of whoever the President was.)

JW's are taught to look at everything as a fraud.

Once we are free of this mindset it is obviously not healthy to continue in that manner of analysis.

Facts are facts. How facts are woven into a scenario which makes you mistrust and suspect the worst about others is the key to Conspiracy theories.

The fraud conspiracies are false because they depend on good people saying nothing about horrendous acts of which they personally have knowledge.

Okay....this is why I could read the discussion forum for a year without contributing. You all have such unique takes that are informative and even quite interesting. However, what really hit home for me was the Web Page "Secrets of the Watchtower". Honestly those articles were very informative about the WTS. Could they have been just as acccurate about other things outside of the Organization?
