I was a real moron.
I cheated on my field circus itself, not the time. I would report honestly the amount of time I actually put in (whether or not it was productive).
In the beginning, it was in the 20-something range. At first, I put in an honest 32 hours one month, thinking I would start receiving blessings. And when I look back, it was the biggest waste of time--nothing more than stirring up more trouble than it settled. Of course, no blessings--and so no more putting in that many hours in one month.
Eventually, I put in one hour a month, and that's what I turned in. The hounders were pxxxed, but I never got more than 2 hours a month (and even that only one month a year) in the past 10 years. And, much of the time it was dummy "service" (walking around where I knew no one would be around and pretending to do "street work").
And then, in June 2005 I put in 2 real hours of field circus and did not bother to go back to the Kingdumb Hell to report it. After that, zero. And zero time slips, either.
No. I was a good little Dub and honestly never even thought about it. Also I never recorded time spent in the car on the way to do field service, even after I learned that the other sisters were all doing that. I felt like I would be lying to Jehovah and that He would know if I did anyway. My hours sucked because of that. :(
I will say that while I was on my way out I would go out in service with no literature other than my Bible. Nobody said anything about it for a long time but finally one of the sisters complained and I got counselled for it. I never went out in service again after that.
The last five years I was in the org. I didn't go out in service much, but still felt pressured to turn in time, so I'd make stuff up in my head like, "I was nice to the waitress and encouraged her when she was having a bad day. That counts for at least an hour."
Then I could turn in an hour.
Oh, and hello everyone. I'm Kelley. I was disfellowshipped in 2003, I think. Time goes by so quickly, but I'm pretty sure I've been out for five years along with my dear husband, who my family all agrees "corrupted me!" I've got some things on my mind so I'll be posting later.
No.
Nope, Not a cheater in anything.
Yknot what do you mean 'why else do you think we go out Mon-Thur'? And what's the (someone else wrote)'Star of David pioneer route'? By the way, I haven't cheated but I refer to the report as my 'stats' and 'performance indicators' when I hand them in to the elders. They just smile now - since I explained that handing in these slips is like working for a government department (which I have done) under a contractual/funding agreement. When I first said that to a MS, he said 'but this is God's government'. Yeah, right.
Welcome Kelley!
ALL the time, no seriously i mean ALL the time, I cant remember 1 month that I put in the true time.
When I was regular pioneering I was living at home (my father was an elder) so I used to go out 'by myself' ie to the beach or with friends.
The most I ever actually did was about 20 hours and that was cause i had my eye on a girl in the cong :)
Yknot what do you mean 'why else do you think we go out Mon-Thur'?
Well Mon-Thurs pioneering is usually left to those most dedicated souls, those forsaking regular job hours for schlepping the WTS.
Actually most of us would do 2 Saturday FS a month but always with another M-T pioneer. Leaving the parking lot for some other destination out of the area or claiming a RV.. If we were taking a study out with us we would pick the most empty territory....the ones with 'no trespassing' signs on every driveway. We would get out and leave literature & move on, usually racking up 3-4 hours but never speaking to a soul. In between we would go back to town for a 'break" leaving a pub & counting it as time too. Mentioning constantly that this is proof of the end days...such devil signs those no trespassing, & how no one is home on Saturday because they have to work or some other materialistic reason. In recent years the rap & tract has become the favorite of those 40 & younger. Just knock once softly (or fake it with a stomp) & leave a tract.
Mon-Thurs...
......usually no is home if you actually do go out in service....(echoing the Bethel "angels discerning" talk)
......Elders are usually at work, so it is just you and another gal (or a carload)
.....since no one else but your 'group' is there, no one can prove you didn't spend 6 hours papering that far western territory where all the households are strict (insert most popular church). Ahh and facing so much persecution of the slamming doors, makes you so spiritual.
...... since you are out in those far off areas that nobody wants to drive to, the Saturday FS groups are overjoyed by all the ripe nearby territories, accompanied by an Elder who will feel compelled to actual do FS.
.......when it comes to doing studies, well naturally such spiritual sisters as those of the Mon-Thurs are best qualifed to re-capture the spiritually weak and those young folks trying to make mom & dad happy. (also how better to discourage a 14 yrs old from getting dunked)
.......finally RVs are best found where the financially downtrodden live (which also happens to have high tenant turn over). Just fill in using a phony name and along with the address from the apartments, condos, duplexes, & trailer parks. Once you turn that slip in, that house is marked as yours. You and another sister front a visit or two, maybe a study...then drop it because the person moved out suddenly. Now when the CO comes to town, we make sure all RVs have vanished, and steer him to the multi-family units in another town but still in our territory. Trust me he doesn't really want to be out either so he & the wife will take one side and we the other that hasn't been done in awhile. We drive to and from at 45-50 miles per hour. We break and then do another section again him with his wife on one block, us on another. Whether they actually knock on the doors is never really discussed, just a lot of not interested but was able to place a mag... and marked for us M-T sisters to revisit the following week after he leaves.
The charade continues.........while I have stopped my FS follies....my momoneers are still using these methods every week.....and spending an hour to two hours just lounging at my house instead, while the kiddies do homeschool.
BTW the star of david pattern means to criss cross you territory to boost you time with driving for either FS or RVs.
This topic is really revealing.
Welcome ID Crisis, I'mFreeAtLast, and Kelley!
