They will probably meet at the hall for field service.

isn't it funny how sisters could be called upon to read scriptures, surely more important than the paragraphs from a book, but only read the actual book if there was no alternative (no qualified brothers) available.

Booby, excellent point. It shows what they consider to be holy, doesn't it?

I conducted a BS for a while, where every other meeting I had a sister read.
I hope they head coveringIn my nearly 30 years of conducting the so-called book study there were often occasions when there was no baptised brothers in attendance to read. In these cases, I always got the sisters to take turns in reading. I wouldn't have expected the sisters to cover their heads, it is not a teaaching assignment; more like reading a scripture at the group.

All I can say is that the apostle Paul in his later writings demanded that women remain silent during gatherings , I know that's something the WTBTS doesn't bring up but sure easy to find in the bible . 1 corinthians 14:34-35 . I don't see any women wearing head coverings either at the local cong. The angels could be getting a little horny these days .Poor things can't mind their own bees wax ..

Eyeslice, nowhere does WT policy say that a woman can't read for a book study. In fact, the first pre-requisite for reading is that he or she be a good reader. Also, the OM book specifically states that a single person be used, not everyone taking a shot at reading. And as you said, if they're reding, it doesn't qualify as presiding over the meeting, thus no head covering would be needed.

daniel_p, that is correct. But elder bodies and COs make their own adjustments. Even different elders on the same body have different policies. I have been the "designated" reader at a book study and did not have to wear a head covering. In another congregation I did. In another the sisters took turns reading the paragraphs. In another the conductor had to read all the paragraphs. It only showed to me that holy spirit was not directing the organization very well, or that elders were rogues in their applications.
