Why are so many leaving?

I've noticed as of late that quite a few people are posting "Good Bye" threads.... Why?

Sometimes people have disagreements or arguments, but does that mean they can't remain friends or talk?

Hell, if I left my wife every time we had an argument, we wouldn't have stayed married through our honeymoon! I have friends, and sometimes my friends and I disagree vehemently about a topic and we debate and argue, call each other assholes, but afterwards we all have a beer and have fun. Just because somebody has a problem with one or two people doesn't mean that they should have to abandon the whole group. I go to parties sometimes where everybody there isn't my friend, so I just worry about my friends and leave those others alone. I think the same strategy can work here, too.

Come on, guys, can't we all just get along? Seriously.

I think it's a skill to be able to agree to disagree and then let it go and move on. Some peeps are better at it than others.

Much more are staying than leaving. I figure they just need to take a break. JWD is always in flux.

It's part of the healing process. We are here for support and help. Some find what they need and move on.

Old habits die hard? Maybe they feel the need to disfellowship the board?!

It has been an unpleasant period. Not only are regulars leaving but there has been a marked decrease in the number of newbies which saddens me. This place is as much about the lurkers as the members. I hope it hasn't put too many people off joining.

Actually, Simon announced yesterday that he has temporarily disabled the registration function.

That's probably contributing to the decrease in newbies, too. (Smug, smart-alec response with no implication of comment on the drama of the past few days.)

Yes, but some of the more recent ones are leaving out of anger about the gay thing that happened.

If they can just see that life is full of ebb and flow, they wouldn't be so quick to leave.

I think they left before carefully reading Simon's posts. He was fed up with hijacking and porn talk and pix.

I was, too.

That is all it was about but some blew it up out of proportion and ran with it, choosing to use his decision to get all offended and push an agenda that didn't even need pushed here.
