Thanks for this thread, Coco. I've been wanting to post this little story:

A lady from down the street (a stranger to me) stopped by hoping I would share a plant she had seen in my yard. We took a tour of my garden and she left with a banana plant.

Two days later I received the most wonderful thank-you card in the mail. Her husband had died 6 months earlier, she had no children, and had been near death with kidney disease; she had been so depressed she didn't care if she lived.

But now she was all inspired to go to work in her own garden. She had called her sister and told her she was over her depression; that no one could visit me and my garden and be depressed!

I can't tell you how good that made me feel, that I had made a difference in someone's life. Wow, I didn't even do anything, just showed her my ol' messy garden. I think she did more for me than I did for her.

What beautiful poetry.

I hate pain...especially the pain of heartbreak. I have learned enough lessons, cried enough tears, felt more than my share of pain of heart....

And I have learned:

Give me happiness any day, without stupid lessons.

I don't need personal disasters to be able to feel empathy and sympathy for others.

All pain does is cripple and destroy the inner self ....that's all it does, nothing magical, nothing superior.
