The no sex before marriage thing. I couldn't see how to commit to someone for eternity without a test drive first.

First, the endless rules about courtship. These are made up to allow the hounders to prevent certain people from getting married at all. They are capricious and specious about enforcing them.

Along with that, endless stagnation. Field circus is supposed to replace sexual expression. Of course, it never works. In fact, I never got any fulfillment out of field circus whatsoever. The fact is, I used to like it when snafus came up--no one shows up, it suddenly gets wet or snowy, someone has a Big Mac attack or gets tired, letting the heat out of the car so people take longer to warm up, someone gets stung by a bee, or poor organization. Not when things went as planned.

Brings back memories of pioneering. I loved it when we'd get stuck in the snow out in rural territory or get lost

They do waste HUGE amounts of time. I'd rather be surfing the net.

the WTBTS has been able to substitute the everlasting God of salvation with empty, meaningless, propaganda in the hearts and minds of its followers...

    dear minimus...

satan has a way of filling that part of us that is meant to be "devoted" to God...

now-a-days his ways and means are everywhere: education, philanthropy, science, the latest and best technology, the next episode of your favorite show, even the next DB...anything that has us chasing after and settling for the "void" filler that isn't God...

I would like to share with you a copy of a letter that I recently wrote to a friend of mine...

"Identification with the poor and the oppressed is pictured as a 'war waged on a more or less clearly identifiable enemy. The model is essentially a conflict one where the promotion of a good is inextricably linked to a fight with a known adversary'. Unfortunately, Social Analysis, when it is used by the amateur social scientist, can readily turn into a conflict ideology and thus be the cause of injustice rather than an instrument for its removal." page 159...Refounding Religious Congregations OUT OF CHAOS. Gerald A. Arbuckle. S.M.

perhaps this sheds some light on the reason that Jesus fed the thousands of people and then sent THEM away...the disciples FOLLOWED Him because they were aware, as was Jesus, that thier fight was NOT with the known, visible enemy of poverty in its many forms, but with the invisible...For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against princlpalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual HOSTS of wickedness in the heavenly places...Ephesians 6:12

anyway...that quote is from the book that I'm reading now...:) so...you can see how easy it is to be led away by even the most basic "things"... love michelle

Who were the Nicolatians? What were their deeds and their doctrine? We have only one definite indication as to the nature of this group and that comes to us from the meaning of the word itself. The word Nicolatian comes from the Greek words, nicao and laos which means victory over or subjugation of the people....We can be very sure of the attitude of God toward this program in that He complimented the church at Ephesus for literally hating the deeds of the Nicolatians, about which He said, "I also hate."...
