Angharad..I know JWD has taken it`s toll on You,Simon and the Mods..You and Simon and I have talked about some of the things that have happened......I along with many others am very grateful for all You,Simon and the Mods have done for all of us..Your Incredible people!.....To find out that You and Simon are considering options to keep JWD up and running is "AweSome!"...........That alone is making for some very happy people,myself included......I really had no intention of joining another board..This was it for me..When JWD was gone,so was OUTLAW......If the board stays up,I`ll remain..I`ve always loved it here,just as most of the members on this board do..It`s our Cyber Home.........I have no doubt if the board continues running,we will see some old friends back on JWD..Some who never intend to post on another JW board again..As this was their Cyber Home...................... This site has not outlived its usefulness by any stretch of the imagination, and that's why it would be such a shame to see it go. There simply needs to be a high-profile website such as this one for people who are exiting, doubting, or thinking of joining da twoof. It's easy to forget, once you've been out 5 or 10 or however many years just how traumatic an experience it can be to leave Towerland. And with respect to amama2, moxie, and others, I just don't see any of the other boards reaching the level that this board has.

If this board does survive, it should be known that this kind of bullshit is going to keep going on, no matter what unless something changes.

I'd personally be happy to see the political threads go, and any fluff that causes problems. This should be a tool to keep people for leaving the borg, and leaving the borg alone. Who gives a shit about the Australian election, or the Canadian election, or Argentinian-neo-political nonsense?

How about a three strikes your out policy? Zero tolerance. If you don't like the rules (myself very much included), you leave or you get pushed out the door.

I don't know what would work. I'm just throwing it out there.

I would be happy to see JWD stay around in its current format (posting, etc)... but if Simon is going to close active posting, I would prefer he kept the board himself but just maintained it as a (more or less) static archive. It makes me a bit nervous to know that it might go into others hands.... but I am taking chances on at least one other ex-JW board now.... just not posting as much as I did/do here...

agreed... though the social aspect of this board is enjoyable, it is (or should be) primarily a place for current/ex JWs to come for answers and supports. Sometimes though, the social aspect is the support.... talking about real life..things other than JW related topics....

I dunno...whatever Simon ultimately decides, I respect the decision... he has done more than enough for us the past 8 years.

This site is awesome...warts and all. If it is time for Simon and Ang to focus on other things, boy do I understand. But if there is a chance to keep JWD going...(it's hard to put into words, I keep retyping), well I'll just say, it would be like not having to leave home.

If this board does stay up and open for posting, then I will have two boards where I post. And that's a big "if", since this was not a decision that Simon made on impulse or to stir up the pot. There has been a major problem with people joining this board and attacking other posters (and doing nothing else) and/or posting porn and other total crap. And even threatening the administration.

That is what makes me believe that it's only a matter of time before the board is closed. Hey, Simon could have closed it as soon as people started posting apostate material--at that time, it could have been "We are having too many people coming in and bashing the Watchtower Society, and we need to close it down because we are tired of deleting too many of those posts". Yet he kept it up and open, as an apostate discussion board. And we are all lucky for that.

I will stop posting and since I have posted in one form or another on JW boards since 1999, I am actually glad as without this board I will feel less tempted to post and thus this entire chapter will close completely with no links left the the JW world. Thanks for closing Simon.
