I wouldn't say it's a documentary or research piece but more like a comedic commentary, not to be taken seriously. He does make some serious points though but I wouldn't say he's an activist.

AWAKE&WATCHING
I got it from Netflix and after watching it ordered a copy from Amazon. We have watched it with guests a few times and enjoyed every minute of it. My favorite part is "Jesus" in the "Holy Land" tourist attraction trying to be cool, "Where's my cell phone? Does someone have my cell phone?" Give me a break, almost EVERYONE has a cell phone these days. Poser.
Then of course the APPLAUSE, during the re-inactment of the crucifiction. For Christ's sake, applause? It was disgusting to watch Christians swoon over that part. And then to top it off was the part where the woman from the public relations department chewed out her employee for letting Bill interview "Jesus" because "he's dangerous" instead of just standing up to Bill herself and kicking him out.
The Senator was very scary.
Entertaining on so many levels. I loved his interaction with his mom and the truckers, especially the self-proclaimed former Satanist.
BTW - Thanks Leo, I really appreciate your input.

Finally got around to seeing this. Don't know why it took so long. Anyone who doesn't laugh along with Maher just isn't being honest with themselves about the subject.

JIMMY PAGE- I completely agree with you. Bill Maher's " Religulous " is completely honest and candidly exposes religion for what it is many times- ridiculous

I like what he exposed, but I was disappointed in Bill Maher's arrogant approach. He was condescening and disrespectful to many of his interviews, and I feel he would have made a better impact if he took 'the high road' and acted more respectfully.

I just watched about half of it. I will sit down to watch the other half tonight. Absolutely great. Can you play this at Skeeter's funeral?
It's on Netflix.
