One elder was reading from the Watchtower and pronounced the word organism as "orgasm". He didn't skip a beat and nobody in the cong acted like they'd heard it.....but I know they did!

Another time a teen brother in the hall who was getting into some minor trouble was talking to the elders and they were trying to get to the bottom of what was causing him to act this way. One of the elders asked him "are you acting out because it bothers you to have a black stepfather? I know it bothers me." unbelievable but sadly true.

Oh my god, are you serious??! What an asshole. Well, hopefully he comforted the boy by telling him that in the New System, Jehovah would make his black step-father white.

Why don't you ask us what smart things they've said? It would be much easier.

We had a self-rightous elder that constantly argued with the rest of the body to eliminate "goody-night" at the book study

because some of the friends were showing up once a month just for cookies.

Never seen a more self-rightous prick in my life

I can remember the hounder-hounder talking about how a missionary was not feeling well (perhaps from not getting enough sleep the night before?). He was out in field circus, without enough food (likely because of being out in field circus all the time instead of earning money), and the last call threw a cabbage at him. That was supposed to be Jehovah's way of feeding him.

No mention was made that cabbage is a lousy source of energy. True, it does have vitamins and minerals. However, if you are looking for calories or protein, cabbage is a lousy source. In fact, people eat it to lose weight--and if someone is that hungry, they need something more than a lousy cabbage. Sure shows how damn stingy Jehovah is.

Yeah if someone threw a cow a bag of rice and a bottle of wine, that would be a perfect meal.

One elder giving a talk about "allowed marital sex" said the scripture about - Giving the wife her due and she doing likewise - was not about sex but about treating each other nicely. Afterword I asked him if that meant that during a time of prayer do they stop terating each other nicely, since that is what the scripture says?

Another elder was so aginst gatherings of any kind, other than mtgs. He would show countless pics from the WT and say "Count how many people are shown at these depictions of gatherings, there is never more than 8 or 9, so we should not have gatherings with more than that many people."

Before my parents were even babtized they would have the book study in their house (they have had their eye on my dads house from day one). I was at the book stude and the elder conducting the study looks right at me and says "Anyone who plays or listens to rock music, is a fornicator, and a worshiper of Satan, and therefore has no place in J's organization. At the time I had a band and my father had allowed us to make our garage a sound dampened rehersal room. I closed the book went to the garage plugged in my guitar, turned my amps all the way up and just started jamming. At that time my dad supported me as did my mom. They were asked by the conductor and his wife if they would make me stop playing until after the study and they both said no. They then said that they would not recommend him asking me either. Funny thing was that nobody else seemed to mind and three of them came out into the garage after the study to listen.

I have hundreds of these as we all do.

I heard many dumb things over the years. The most offensive remarks that really pressed all my buttons were cliched remarks about 'materialism'. I got really sick of the unreality these people were in to say such things.

I just loved hearing these remarks from retirees who haven't been in the work force for years and conveniently forgot what it was like and also from visiting Bethelites living on contributions from people who work for a living.
