In March this year, we decided to move to another hall and eventually fade. We ended up making one meeting and just dropped out. We haven't had any problem since and our friends in the old hall do not know we are inactive, they think we still go to meetings.
We moved for various reasons but both of us were unhappy with what was going on in the congregation. When the elders heard a rumor that we might be leaving, one of them called me to confirm it "so he could get a letter of introduction written right away." These elders ignored me at the hall, never phoned me when I missed dozens of meetings and when they hear I might be moving to another hall they call to get me off their books. Whether our report cards were sent I don't know.
Anyway, several months go by. We attended one meeting at our new congregation and never went back. We are completely inactive now and since then have not heard from anyone in our old hall except for seeing them in the supermarket.
Last week I get a call from an elder in my old hall. He asks, "have you settled anywhere yet? If you want to come back and give us another chance you're welcome to do so."
I politely thanked him and ended the call. He does not know we are inactive but asking us if we have settled anywhere yet was worrying. We still live in the old congregation's territory. No one from the old hall knows we're inactive and we both have friends there.
I'm wondering if he has called the congregation we were supposed to be moving to and enquired whether Brother Truthseeker was attending.
When you move to another hall, does the new congregation ask the old one for your report cards, or are they sent automatically when you inform the elders where you're moving to?
Any advice is appreciated.
