I was confronted with the blood issue, with my unborn son, in 2007. My critical thinking skills were turned on, the rest is history. If one examines Watchtower's history on the blood issue with (1) an open mind and (2) the Bible, he or she will quickly realize that Watchtower is dangerous cult.

I sometimes tell my little boy that he saved my life.

I don't know that I've actually caused somebody to leave. But, I think I convinced an aunt and a niece who weren't exactly practicing to stay out.

In the case of my niece, she had run off with a "worldly" guy, gotten married, and was living with him. She never really gave up the JW beliefs - she just didn't practice them. So she continued to worry about things like "what if Armageddon came"? So, I had several conversations with her and pointed her to some books like Crisis of Conscience. She has managed to put the JWs behind her now.

My aunt left because she was a Sunday morning meeting type of Witness. She wasn't big on the other meetings. Well, one of those Sundays, some guy came up and gave a talk blasting those types of JWs (or maybe it was in the Watchtower). So, she figured if what I'm doing isn't good enough, this isn't for me and never returned. That didn't set right with me. You have to know it's a crock. If you feel insulted by one person, maybe you change your mind and decide to forgive/ignore that person and go back anyway. So I've had talks with her about it and I think her head's in the right place.

At one time, my direct family (excluding spouses) had 14 JWs. Two of them died JWs in the 80's and only 3 more are left. So, 9 of 14 are no longer. And who knows, if they had lived, whether the 2 that died would still be.

Leaving, that photo is just gorgeous! Just look at that handsome little man of yours... with those incredibly bright, inquisitive eyes and smile. You are both truly blessed indeed that you were inquisitive enough...

Beloved Oomps... I think that for every JW who finds his or her way out, there were several bright pebbles dropped along the way. I myself know for a fact that I have dropped some of those directory-pointing, path-changing pebbles. For that, I am thankful.
