I live on the Coast on NC and its nice to be able to drive about 6 hours to get to the mountains...but I do hate the heat and humidity in the summer. I have a friend that moved to Bend Oregon and he loves it out there...lots of skiing lots of sunshine and not too far from the ocean for a weekend.
What is the best state to live in in America?

Mountains and beaches? You are going to have to live on the east or west coast or Hawaii. I suppose that would include Alaska.

I'm in the Western part of NC. I love living at the foot of the mountains. The summers get hot, but that's they way us southern girls like it! Hardly no clothes and going barefoot!!!!

hillbilly said: I think we have had or can possibly get snow in all 50 states. It snowed in Miami Fl back in 73 or 74 ...made the papers all over the US. A buddy of mine was stationed in Hawaii... he swears it snowed on them up atop a mountain on one of the outer islands. He told me it was as cold as anyplace he's ever been at night up high too.
After the horrific winter we had around here last year, where we had record breaking cold and snow from November to the beginning of frigging April, I think I could deal with a place that saw snow once every 40 or 50 years or on top of a mountain.

Alberta. We got jobs.
For fun, try this out: http://www.findyourspot.com/ It turns out hubby and I are well-suited to a northern State. Which turns out we are right were we should be after all.

I love NC and VA. I live in NC next to Virginia, not too far from the beach and close to the mountains. I drive out in the country and the old houses and farms are beautiful in the rolling hills. Beautiful in the spring and fall and not too bad in the winter.

Jgnat... I LOVE findyourspot.com! Believe it or not... that is how we moved where we are now, and it totally feels like home.
