Jack Barr was well known in the U K (at least London and Scotland) before he was summoned to join the G B,

I went on the work with him, just a few weeks we heard that he had been asked to join them. At the time I was so impressed to think that someone who had been so friendly to me, a young lad, and of a humble self effacing attitude could get to the top of that organisation.

Jack Barr and his wife were staying at the same hotel as Sam and I for Twickenham probably 2003 or 2004.

So I went up and introduced myself at breakfast as my Mum and Dad had met him several times over the years and were in regular correspondence with him - he seemd a nice old man if somewhat frail - his wife mentioned they had been in fulltime service for 70 years or something - she was very frail and died shortly afterwards. I can't imagine he is much longer for this mortal coil.

    - Next time you find yourself in Motel6 just remember where the GB are staying that night http://www.petershamhotel.co.uk/ -

Farkel, my mom knew the Swingles too. And we had several Swingle/Axtells in our hall growning up in Utah. Met Lyman once.

I also met Bro. Ganges (sp?) when I went to NY in 1989. "Can you tell me....?"
