That was the first district assembly I ever missed -- and I missed it because my husband was losing his job and we did not have funds to go.
I became inactive the following year, but it didn't have anything to do with the "generation" belief -- I never really understood the 1995 revision, and still can't explain it.
Actually, the 1992 flip flop on education affected me more. In 1992 they came out with a brochure that basically recommended that parents provide some sort of post-secondary education for their children. It made me furious because my oldest daughter was already in middle school and we had made NO provisions for our children to go to college due to the previous Watchtower stand.
After my husband's plant shut down, he started college and I followed a semester later. We both have Associate Degrees, but hubby turned down a full scholarship to get a Bachelor's degree and took a job instead. All our kids got some college thanks to finanacial aid, but none of them have yet earned a degree.
When I look back on what I believed and taught as a Witness, I find it hard to comprehend how I ever thought JWs had "the truth".
