"Enjoy an exciting career with a multi-national publishing company. Meet the challenges of distributing Awake magazines about kangaroos, and writing down addresses onto Not-At-Home slips. Benefits package includes free convention badges, group sing alongs at the Kingdom Hall, and a group photo of your Pioneer school. Just sign your life away, right here on the dotted line."

LMAO - Thanks for the laugh today Jeremy.

Jeremy C... how I love your posts. This one bears repeating...

Jeremy C said, "It is truly pathetic that a religious organization must motivate it’s youth with apocalypse instead of love for neighbor, or true uplifting inspiration."

    Thank you for that.
    Love,
    Baba.

"A lot of good a college education will do them now. Nobody can keep a job".

They have a better chance of keeping theirs than those of us who don't have one.

    Show you Mum this quote:

"Yes, since the summer of 1973 there have been new peaks in pioneers every month. Now there are 20,394 regular and special pioneers in the United States, an all-time peak. That is 5,190 more than there were in February 1973! A 34-percent increase! Does that not warm our hearts? Reports are heard of brothers selling their homes and property and planning to finish out the rest of their days in this old system in the pioneer service. Certainly this is a fine way to spend the short time remaining before the wicked world's end." Kingdom Ministry May 1974 p.3 How Are You Using Your Life?

Sounds familiar. Those people that put off their careers then are now approaching retirement age. Ask her how many of them are still pioneering. All the ones I knew from that era curse that they did not get an education and after a few years pioneering spent the rest of their struggling finanically in low paid jobs.

Just what I was going to say Loosie...

I sure would rather have a useless PhD instead of a useless GED when I go out looking for a job...

I wonder how long they will pio-sneer before they realize that the end is not coming. Of course, this time they do not have a "1975", so this could bumble on as the people waste their time indefinitely waiting for the end--that never comes.

All I remember is that they have been pushing the imminence of the end in 2006. They were going to start the Great Tribulation with that waste of paper drive--which failed. They had the "Our Deliverance Is At Hand" Grand Boasting Session, and nothing happened. At the 2007 REJECT Jesus Party, it was supposed to have been the last one--and we had one in 2008, with another one ahead for 2009 soon. And no end in sight.

Plus, anyone on this board knows the "Stay Alive 'til '75" crap. Many have seen the hype of the 1940s; it was supposed to have ended in 1914. And nothing happened. Which is exactly what I am expecting this time.

Pioneers are just wasting their time.

Back in 1979 I had an opportunity to go to veterinary school on a scholarship (in other words,,,totally free)
Since the witnesses were dead set against college I did not accept it, I kick myself everyday for not taking advantage of that!!

Her response: "A lot of good a college education will do them now. Nobody can keep a job".

People lose jobs during every economic downturn. That's nothing new, and it's happened many times. An educated person has a better chance of finding a job than an uneducated one.

Bottom line, if you're out of work and going hungry the watchtower won't put food on your table or help with your rent. They'll just tell you to study more, pray more, and go out in service™ more. Real practical stuff, ya know?

Better to have an education, which could give you an edge when seeking work.
