Were you atheist/agnostic BEFORE you came here?

.. Erich: I think I lost faith in old JHWH when he couldn't even save his own name. It was supposed to be around forever, but we lost the pronunciation a couple thousand years ago. If a god can't even save his own name, I don't hold out much hope for his ability to save anything of greater substance..<

    An interesting statement!

I think this was no accident.
We now, in the 21. century, know exactly the meaning of the tetragrammaton "JHWH". Former folks called it "I am what I am", which means a nonsense, a tautology.

This is the most important message of the case. Pronunciation doesn't matter too much.

When I look back on my JW life I never really believed that god was out to help or hurt me. When I left I realized that for me atheism felt right. That does not mean I am not in tune with my spirituality. Or that that I have thrown anything out on the contrary I have gained much more than I have thrown out. This board has had nothing to do with my core belief system.

Sorry Erich, you're wrong. We don't know the "exact meaning" of Tetragrammaton, and we certainly don't know how it was pronounced.

We do know it was not "JHVH" though, and was NEVER pronounced Jehovah!! No J in Hebrew. Sorry. You become less convincing with each post.

    Joke- you SMOKING TONIGHT=

YOU on fire my man--points well stated indeed

most merely switch one belief system for another and believe the exact same way

If you don't accept my explantion my God will kill you

that is the most basic thread that runs thru most belief systems

you go 2 choice MY GOD'S WAY OR YOU DIE

I think you do know the hebrew signs standing for these characters. Or not? Should I insert a picture of the tetragrammaton found on the scrolls of Qumran from Dead Sea? Or pictures of the tetragrammaton
chiselled in stones, digged up by archeologists?

Pronouncing "Jehovah", Yehova", "Jahwe" or "Yahweh" doesn't matter at all: the meaning of the word is of essential interest. And we do know it.
Note: please do not associate in your mind all things about the tetragrammaton with the ORG or WTS. This is false. Even if WTS would vanish at all, the hebrew tetragrammaton and it's meaning would survive !!!

You say, I'd get less convinced with each post. You go astray. This is obviously a wishful thinking of you, but your desire will not come true...

I was agnostic before I started lurking on the board earlier this year.

I classify myself as "independently spiritual", believing in my own ideas and thoughts. :-)
What a change from being "collectively religious". What a change and what a relief!

ALthough I am trying to ignore the little pest, when he starts making false statements, either deliberately all through lack of learning or good old fashioned stupidity, I feel I have to say something...

Erich seems ignorant of the fact that the tetragrammaton is transcribed as YHWH.

This is because he speaks German; in German, Y is substituted by J. The word 'Jehovah' was coined by a German I believe. If they had had a native tounge with a Y in it, it would have been Yehovah.

How someone who prides himself on his level of learning can not know such an elementary fact (one you can actually find in Society publications it is so simple), I do not know.

No doubt he will respond in his normal fashion, all mouth, no trousers...

I think you made some extremely traumatic experiences in your life as JW.

As for this reason, I forgive you. I will pray for you, hoping that one day you will get better behavior and insight when time will come..

Your statement was very instructive for me. Of course, I had got no idea of what you told. It's very important for this forum to have got such immense smart guys like you - with extreme high IQ.
