I have been able to tell my kids that since we are jw's we don't do cristmas.

to help the kid, we are giving presents every other week until the seasons over, to make them feel good about themselves.

the other day, she starts humming "jingle bell rock". I told the kid not to do it, since we JWS don't do cristmas.

the response was "the songs not about cristmas, but about jingling and rocking".

    what should I do really?

I'm trying to instill things like: "as JWS we dont do this and that"

So, you want to further instill JW doctrines into your children? Heck, just tell them that Jehovah God hates Christmas and everyone who celebrates it. Right to the point.

    salc,

I want to say what you said: "i want to make it seem like it's the org that forbids it".

I want to plant seeds without them telling other jws somthing that will get me on the apostate radar

LYRICS TO JINGLE BELL ROCK BY BOBBY HELMS:

Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells swing and jingle bells ring
Snowing and blowing up bushels of fun
Now the jingle hop has begun
Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock
Jingle bells chime in jingle bell time
Dancing and prancing in Jingle Bell Square
    In the frosty air.
What a bright time, it's the right time
    To rock the night away
Jingle bell time is a swell time

To go gliding in a one-horse sleigh
Giddy-up jingle horse, pick up your feet
    Jingle around the clock
Mix and a-mingle in the jingling feet
    That's the jingle bell,
    That's the jingle bell,
    That's the jingle bell rock

Jingle Bell Rock is not officially a Xmas song but a WINTER song.....

Why not prepare a list/talk of things that are forbidden by the WTS and those that hardliners consider 'stumbling acts'.

See if you can get them to discern 'stumbling really as a matter of conscience and not a violation and let them argue their right to sing Jingle Bell Rock.

Make her sing We're Jehovah's Witnesses like we had to if we got caught singing a Christmas carol.

Also, if she has worldly friends, tell her the Society says that they are bad association and are going to be killed in Armageddon. Then ask her to look in the Bible for what makes them so bad. This works well for any neighbors, etc, who are good people. We couldn't find things in the Bible to justify killing these people. But I said, "Well, the Society says we can't be friends with them anyway".

No matter what it is, say, "The Society of GB says we can't do it. I can't find that rule in the Bible, but they say we can't, so we can't." Blame everything on the GB and Society.

Worked like a charm with my kids.

"Honey, even though Jehovah's Witnesses celebrated Christmas a long time ago ... yes, even after Jesus approved the organization as the one-true faith ... and because it has some pagan origins ... even though we allow the use of the Pinita which has pagan origins too ... which doesn't make sense at all ... now, where was I? Oh, yes, even after Jesus approved the organization in 1919, Jehovah's Witnesses were still celebrating Christmas because they gave thanks to Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior and the bible says the angels rejoiced when Jesus was born ... regardless, the Society decided in 1925 because we no longer give worship to Jesus anymore. Not sure why ... just don't. Anyhow, let's look at some scripture ...

    Romans 14:5-6
One man considers one day more sacred than another; another man considers every day alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. He who regards one day as special, does so to the Lord. He who eats meat, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he who abstains, does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God.

Hmmm. Well, that's a bad example, honey, but that is a very interesting scripture, isn't it? Kinda makes one think that whatever we do it is for the Lord and gives thanks to God without any guilt-trip from others. Seems like it suggests that celebrating Christmas would be okay, but let's not be quick to assume that since we must listen to our Governing Body. Let's look at another scripture to make sure of all things, like the bible says. Okay?

    Colossians 2:16-17
Let no man therefore judge YOU in meat, or in drink, or IN RESPECT OF AN HOLYDAY, or of the new moon, or the sabbath days which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Uhhhh ... well, I don't know what to say. That scripture seems to show that Christians celebrating a holyday ... or holiday ... shouldn't be judged. Hmmm. Well, let's just forget these two scriptures and just trust the Governing Body. Maybe someday they'll change their minds about Christmas like they did before. What do you think, honey?"
