Still in 77, it is kind of interesting that the WT is so ineffective in communicating the message about the 144,000 to all those people in Mexico, etc, but think that they actually truly understand the religion-when most who speak English don't:)
That idea is a lot racist, but that has never stopped the 'brothers' from using cultural differences to give themselves an out.
If there is a cultural difference, it is that there is not as many long standing 'understandings' of the organization in some of the less westernized nations, so that when they read the WT, they take it for what it says, while the 3rd-5th gen. US JW *knows* that no SANE person thinks that they could possibly be one of the 'anointed'. I am sure that soon the non-westernized nations and immigrants will be getting the message soaked in very, very soon.
Doctrinal ramifications of large increase in 2008 memorial partakers?

I think the WTS screwed up big by opening up the door again in 2007. They have no choice but to leave it open now (I find it difficult to believe they would re-close it, with a different explanation of course).
Whether or not there are any doctrinal ramifications, we will just have to wait and see.
I seriously also doubt they're going to start teaching that everyone ends up going to heaven instead. The whole "paradise on earth" thing is the only bait they have to lure any people in...

Interesting.
So, if there is another 10% increase next year (and they bother to report it), the number of anointed will climb to the level it was in the mid-60's. A few more years of that and it will be back to 1950's levels.
Wonder if this will make the new "thecratic news highlights" section of the new-fangled KM? "Number of partakers now at highest level in past 3 decades?"

Jesus said "NOBODY has eternal life except he eat my flesh and drink my blood." John's Gospel
He was not talking of an exclusive club for the annointed. No matter what your hope, nobody has the right to tell you to refuse to do what is clearly stated by THE SON OF GOD. Not even the Witchtower
Millions sit at the reject Jesus party every year. As mere onlookers. Talk about waving sandwiches under the noses of starving children. This is just for US. Nah nah nah.
Why bother going at all??

They will adopt just about everything Raymond Franz has said. They just wouldn't do it immediately. They would do it over an extended period of time, as holy spirit directs and take full credit for what they should've accepted in the 1970's.

*** re chap. 19 p. 118 par. 14 Sealing the Israel of God ***Interestingly, Charles T. Russell recognized the 144,000 to be a literal number of individuals making up a spiritual Israel. In TheNewCreation, Volume VI of his StudiesintheScriptures, published in 1904, he wrote: "We have every reason to believe that the definite, fixed number of the elect [chosen anointed ones] is that several times stated in Revelation (7:4; 14:1); namely, 144,000 ‘redeemed fromamongst men.’"
