Aww that poor baby girl..she must have been HORRIFIED. When I started in like 1967, my mother who never told me ANYTHING, opened the bathroom door, whipped a BELT and a kotex pad (they didnt have the stick on kind then) and said here use this. No instructions whatsoever.
Then...she announced AT DINNER "LovesDubs became a WOMAN today! She got her first period!"

It was 1966 for me, in March. I remember quite well because in May of that year, we had to move in with our g'ma.

as the only single male pioneer in the KH, I got to hear all of those stories and more.. Why do y'all talk about that stuff in public anyway... lol
In field service, unless I was driving, usually I would be in the back seat, and Sister Married Pioneer would be talking to her pio. partner about her GYN appointment, then realize, "oh, {snakes} is in the car...." I always just pretended not to hear...and honestly I didnt care too...but I can say I am not ignorant about all of the crap you women go through..
I remember one single sister talking about her GYN appointment with a foreign doc... (Dr. Kim)...she used to imitate him...so the next time she had an appointment, she made the mistake of telling the car broup (incl myself) that she would meet us later. When we picked her up, I started doing my own "Dr. Kim" imitation..... "ahhh...miss {xxx}, hah deed ya exam go wit dr. keem?" Everyone else enjoyed the laugh...she was mad at first, but then figured thats what she got for telling those stories in field service around a single brother lol....(I was in my early 20s and a young MS)...

I recall my best friend who was also 2 days younger than I got ours the same time.
So we sat in the park and prayed to the dear Lord to take it away. (assembly was next month and we did not want that to happen. Funny as it was, we did not get it and we thought dear Jeehober had answered all our prayers.

I was 10 and outside playing football with my brother (I was a tom boy), ran in to use the bathroom and damn it all, it was there! I knew what it was but was pissed I didn't want it!
See my mother for some reason, just didn't talk about things in detail and it seems like puberty was definately taboo. My sister in law had to tell her that I needed a bra and that undershirts just didn't cut it anymore! So she says to me wait a minute I'll have to check you My reaction was WTF? so I went and got my undies and shoved it in her face and said SEE? Obviously that was good enough cause she gave me the big fat pad and belt combo and left me alone. My father congratulated me later that day and I was mortified .
Anyway she told me I couldn't play with the boys anymore which confused me and pissed me off even more. I hated being in the house with her. I knew all about the girl stuff from school and my sister in law, but she made me feel like they would get it if I played with them. Come to find out her fear was that I would get pregnant
