Yes, I do remember. I also remember an 8 day assembly must have been 1969 because I was just a little kid. It is one of my worst childhood memories. 8 days of sitting outside in the sun and there was an evening session. Meals were served standing at these high tables, so you just kind of stood there crotch level to everyone else. We did not stay in a hotel, we stayed in a home, no AC in those days, so no relief from the heat. What were they thinking!

I sat through an eight dayer in vancouver, '66, i believe it was. Some days, the sessions went late to 7 or 8 pm. Hard to believe the change in the org, since then. Now, they have a hard time getting enough material together for 3 days of talks.

What could you say in 3, 8 hour days let alone, 8 grueling days that hasn't been repeated and drummed into people heads almost daily 365 days a year. It's just a slow and gruelling beatdown, till your brain doesn't critically think anymore, but only repeats and obeys.

In the past it was all about control and power, now they are more or less fighting against themselves with their own established pasted doctrines and beliefs.

    Hence the cowering back

4 days was hard enough.....8 days would have caused many a suicide and was therefore cancelled!

1978 (old) Busch Stadium - St. Louis, MO. I think it was 4 days... 1/2 day Thursday afternoon (field circus in the morning...some out of towners came up our 800 ft driveway as we were getting ready to leave...my JW dad had fun with them as he hid his name tag).... Fri, Sat, Sun....blazing hot... 120F degrees on the field (Astroturf at that time).... I dont remember hardly anything of that convention...other than that stupid globe on top of a tower in the outfield...any one else remember that or is that a false memory?) I was 11 at the time...I have swiss cheese for memories... how did my ADD self even tolerate that experience?

I remember the 4 day assemblys and then the 3 1/2 day ones and we had to go in service in a strange big city. Was SO nerve wracking. I don't know how I did it.

Starting in '46 Cedar Point Ohio when I was a baby in diapers, I was either taken involuntarily as a child or went voluntarily as an adult to so many 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, or 2 day conventions or assemblies, (International, District, Circuit) I could not begin to count them. I agree with Tyrone, especially about the week long indoctrination sessions, it was -
