Dennis Rader the B.T.K {Bind torture kill} serial killer was caught and confessed to killing 10 people from 1974-91 in Kansas in a gruesome fashion. He sent letters to police boasting to them. In 2004 he foolishly sent police a floppy disc with information on it. They traced it back to him at his Lutheran church and with DNA evidence after many decades, the BTK killer was caught.
So, Ted Bundy, Gacy, Dahmer, the list is huge. Are there more serial killers in America then elsewhere in the world?
Because America is HUGE! Simple answer :)
Let's see... we have been in business for over 200 years... and the population has been over 200 million most of my life time.
Bound to have a few nut jobs with that kind of volume.
What do other nations look like for 'Serial killers' ...is the US first per capita? How do the other forms of lies...er statistics play out?
Maybe we catch more of ours? Who knows?

Actually, sort of a dumb question. I think if you were looking for folks with multiple murders under their belts, there are a few African nations suffering under tribal violence where you'd find 1000s of them.
The US has no monoply on the criminally insane.

Although I couldn't find any precise data, looking at population and lists of serial killers for various countries, the UK has a similar proportion of serial killers per head of population to the USA - possibly even slightly more.
I think it's more a question of an active justice system and media coverage. and of course
greater population and more material things , faster life styles... leading to twisted thinking

I think if you adjusted statistics for size of population, the UK would give the US a run for its money.
Jack the Ripper, Ian Brady and Myra Hindley, The Yorkshire Ripper (now allegedly studying with the JW's), Harold Shipman, Fred and Rosemary West...I'm sure I could think of more.

Okay not all of Africa is stuck in the dark ages, I should know living here. We don't have was lords or chiefs. We have our share of serial killers, we are mostly known for the violent crime. We have a lot of that. Not cool. Not cool at all guy.
