Oh, I'm with you cous. I love Sundays, too. And, coincidentally, it's snowing here too. (after 70 degree weather two days ago).

I usually watch CBS Sunday Morning and log on to the Web with my laptop. Am now watching football with my Guiness in hand (well, I did have to put it down to type this <g>) and will go out and shovel some snow later (have a cold though so won't be out too long).

The only thing I miss is spending time with my wife and friends. But, what the hell, I have TV, the Web and beer! Ahh, that's the life! <g>

What would your friend do if she just decided she doesn't want to do that "service" thing anymore? Would her husband go ballistic or just put up with her? Why doesn't she just say "no"?

    See ya,
    Sean

    Hi Sean,
You know her!! It's my Mexican friend, who came to see your Mom a few days before she died, with her husband too.

To answer your question. He wouldn't do anything to her, but she is afraid of his frowns, and his displeasure. We go round and round on this issue all the time. She is a "pleaser" and does many things she doesn't want to do, because she makes herself feel like people won't like her if she doesn't comply. She is also afraid he will tell her to stop seeing me, if it looks like I am getting through to her. If he only knew!!

Hi Ven, the snow stopped. It isn't cold enough, and now we have some sun, some blue sky, and some rain. Maybe tonight though.

Did you notice how close I am to 1000 posts. I have to keep going now.

Does it seem like you have more time between 7 and 10 on Sundays? When we were regular fixtures at the KH it seemed like I could never get breakfast on the table and the kids dressed in time. Maybe it's all in the attitude - permission to enjoy the leisurely breakfast.

Don't think our snow is going to go away for awhile. Think we have at least a foot accumulated here. Took my daughter to breakfast at the cafe by the KH yesterday. Nobody showed up for service that I can tell. If the snow is keeping them home now I wonder what's going to happen when winter really hits?

    Happy Sunday!

    Mulan,
I couldn't agree with you more about loving Sundays. In fact, having the WHOLE weekend to do whatever you want minus Saturday service and the Sunday meeting makes weekends the best ever!

Being forced growing up to go to the KH (and NEVER having an option, unless you were dying from a fatal disease!) always made me NOT want to go. Now I go to church on Sundays, but those times I do decide to skip and sleep in, I don't feel guilty about it. We have a Sunday School at 11 am, which I LOVE going to and there is always Sunday night services in case I missed the morning. Just having options and not being OBLIGATED to go, makes it enjoyable! I go when I want and when I can. But interestingly enough, I go almost every Sunday just because I want to.

Mulan, I am raising a glass of champagne toasting you and your husband for a lovely evening of great food, wine and conversation. Sunday mornings are as you said so special and enjoyable now. French toast, some bacon and home made latte's are the norm -and like today occasionally we crack open some bubbly.

I used to dread Sunday's too - felt guilty about very seldom going from door to door on Sunday (what kind of elder was I but not taking the lead on both Saturday and Sunday), having to get dressed up in a suit yet again (for years I wore a suit to work everyday, Saturday for witnessing and Sunday), and then knowing that after all the activity with the KH on Sunday there really was not any weekend left.

Love to all fellow Sunday "slackers" :)

    Mak and Sabine
