Sincere question for Christians

How does that situation square with the idea of a "God of Justice"? This person was born, lived a hard life, was never told the "rules" and did the best he could, yet he's going to be tortured for billions of billions of years because of other humans' inability to get the message to him in time?

It isn't the fault of the poor peasant - it's the fault of every Christian who has blood on their hands if that person never got told the rules. Blame the people with the power and knowledge. Ezekiel - story of the watchman...if you don't get the message out both you and the guy that never got the message - both toast.

Now of course to me Christian means Christ like or follower of Christ and none of those writings are based on what Christ said or did. He is more forgiving and compassionate and isn't that why we want to be like him??? If we want to flit and flutter back to the OT why insist that one is a Christian? The OT is full of violence - Ezekiel 9:5..do not feel sorry for any man, virigin, child or woman.

My question is this. Who is better off during life? The wretch who spends every waking hour of his life trying to run as fast as he can to spread the good word, scared and shaking all his life that his God will kill him at any minute and for any reason? Or the peasant who has no knowledge of how scared he should be in this life so he goes about living and surviving and being a good person in his community and to his family without being burdened by all that? In the end we are all going to wherever God is and he'll judge then...so all these people fighting to stay on top of the religious-o-meter are running and scared for nothing. sammieswife.

The Bible tells us that the judgment is solely based on whether one accepted Jesus Christ as his savior, "believe on him and ye shall be saved".

The first couple of respondents above have highlighted at least 2 areas where the judgment is based on something else, but did not specify what that "something else" is.

The post from sammieswife seems to indicate, as well, a judgment based on "something else".

What is this extra-Biblical "something else"? Or where do I find it in the Bible, if it is not "Believe on the lord Jesus and ye shall be saved"?

Well, it would seem that Jesus said not even THAT was enough:

Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the
kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is
    in heaven.

    Matt 7:21

    Try Mathew 25, Romans 2 and 14, 2 Corinthians 5, Hebrews 9, and 1 John, for starters.

It seems to me that Jesus' instructions to attain salvation are riddled with specific actions that are needed to be saved. Sure, you can say that those who REALLY "believe" in Jesus will do all of these things, but it seems rather disingenuous to claim that the actually ticket to heaven is one particular thought that blooms in your mind. If you "accept Jesus as your personal saviour" while in the midst of a killing spree, and continued gleefully killing people, do you still go to heaven when you get shot by the police sniper? If NOT, then Christians should really stop with the "The important thing is that you say the right magic words in your head" [inking]

God is LOVE is all we need to know .....in the ultimate time frame all things will be understood

no one will suffer undue lasting suffering !

As for everything else this is my rule ... because all judgment belongs to God !

Don't Sweat the Small Stuff...And everything else but God's eternal love is small stuff !

How many of those things did the 3-month-old baby accomplish to get into heaven?

The Bible tells us that the judgment is solely based on whether one accepted Jesus Christ as his savior, "believe on him and ye shall be saved".

So how does that apply to people who died before Jesus even came, like Moses? Did I miss something?
