Stay away from the beaches. Rumor has it that there are scantily clad British women there.

Just to add: "Southern" Ireland and Northern Ireland are NOT at war, and never have been!

I think Ireland knows better than to declare war on the United Kingdom - better to have a paramilitary proxy war...

Thanks Besty. Never quite had that clear. Was given a job offer there (London based company) 20 years ago. We wanted to do it but it all fell through when the Government requirements for hiring foreigners got in the way. A UK company wanting to hire a non citizen must show that the position cannot be filled by a citizen and the red tape gets pretty thick. A good thing actually but we were disappointed at the time.

I'm proud of myself! I actually understood what you were saying. I have just recently educated myself about the Channel Islands thing. I had no clue before though. I want to visit them now. I thought there were two Baliwicks there, but maybe I need to read more.
Do you need any educating about the US? Personally, I like the initials. Very inclusive:)

shame it fell through gregor - i think american<->europe cross-pollination is a good thing - broadens everyones horizons - just think you might have been an advocate for anthropogenic climate change if you had stayed in europe :-)
I work for News Corp and the process to get me into the US was pretty slick - the type of Visa I have normally requires a university degree which I don't have but that was overlooked <cough>
