I don't like the way some Americans say Scotland - as in Scatland, like we are covered in poo or something.
I hear you slim. I would suggest that the vowel be left out altogether. So a quick clipped Sctland may be less offensive

    I thought it was Scootlind?

If you try to get watah in a pub the tender will ask "spawklin ora stale mate?"

LMAO thats a impersonation IP. I think you could live over here.

I had to ask the dude about 5 times to repeat before I understood he meant sparkling or still. After about the 3rd time I was gonna go back to the table to get you to get your own damn water cause he's saying something about a STALE MATE.

That explains why the EU's operating language is German. er no actually , it used to be French, but now is English

English is the operating language within the UE, no question about that. Now, in working committees and assemblies where interpreting is needed, there are 3 pivotal languages, English, French and German, owing to translating cost pressure, so that if the portuguese member wants to understand the finnish representative, he will hear him translated through these 3 languages. Same thing with working papers.

Hey, do Brits consider themselves European? Or Britain part of Europe? I have heard some speak of Europe like it was another world, yet here in the States, if we go to "Europe", then Great Britain is often part or even the whole of the trip.

Hey JW Daughter good point , most people here consider themselves English/ British first ( therein lies another debate too) and then a number, like me consider themselves part of Europe, and want to see the UK more involved and engaged. To many that is anathema. Political careers have been made on lost on one's attitude to Europe.

IN my experience, Britain lies somewhere between Europe and America not only geographically but also culturally.

Here is a picture I took whilst in merrie olde England last September. This is at a geocache site and is part of my log there.

    Parliament View

Started out the day with breakfast at a little diner, with tea. It was a lovely day. I even brought one of those huge ass power connectors to plug in my eeePC and check email.

I would be willing to go back and see much more.
