As a mere Brit , who does not claim to understand American Sports...we just find it strange that when the big sporting event is on, anybody cares about what goes on at half time.

In our "Cup Final" of football, everybody visits the bathroom at half time , argues about the game and the T V shows "experts" arguing about the game...simple eh?

I do not think the T V would book a big name entertainer - they have a massive audience anyway...

I think prince was the best ever but bruce is right behind him.

This statement troubles me for some reason. To much time on JWN I suppose.

BluesBrother, there is no explanation other that it's just what we do. Retched excess and $3million dollars per 30 second advertising spot...can't even go to the bathroom at commercial breaks! The whole thing is just big big business. We are capitalists you know!

Just avoid the same thing when you let Beyonce or Carrie Underwood out there.
Bring the hip/hop artists out there with a clear understanding that nobody is allowed to
get naked and they will pay the fines if they violate their contract with language, nudity,
    political speak.

What if I WANT them to get naked? Beyonce and Carrie could strip each other and it would get a hell of a lot more viewers than the game!

I actually like the distraction of the big half time show at least for this one game. This one game is so hyped up and so over talked for the days leading up to it, it's nice to have a respite from it for a few minutes.

When you have 4 different ESPN channels, FoxSports channels, Ted Turner sports channels and numerous other local cable sports channels spending day in and day out, dissecting and re-dissecting every nuance of this game it tends to irritate after awhile.

I quit watching the sports channels because they've run everything into the ground so bad, it takes the fun out of watching the actual event itself. And this is true of not just the Super Bowl, but any sport popular in the US. With multiple 24 hour sports channels, they run out of programming pretty quick, so they have to go make stories themselves. That's why whenever the Yankees or the Cowboys fart in the showers a reporter is there to overblow it and make a big deal out of it.

The Cowboys farted in the shower? Details, please!

Terrell Owens was involved, no doubt.

Ok...since we're picking on the Cowboys...here's a Cowboys joke I read on a blog after they lost to the Eagles...

If you remember the game, Tony Romo got banged up and WR Roy Williams dropped a couple of big passes...

Anyway, it was reported that Tony Romo almost passed out in the showers due to the injury. They said that Roy Williams tried to catch him but it ended up being just another pair of balls that he dropped.

JIMMY PAGE- Er, sorry LOL! slight blip ! Sir Paul McCartney will be 67 ! My bad. I thought he was aging too fast ! Well- what can we expect after his last divorce - I mean that lady probably aged him a good 10 years in the year the divorce proceedings happened !

BEKSBKS- I have never heard of " The Bridge School Benefit show. " I knew Neil Young had an autistic child but didn't know about the show. I'm a huge Neil fan and McCartney fan. That must have been a cool show ! I'll have to check it out sometime
