Here was my answer on another forum, slightly modified to fit your question:
In John chapter 18, Jesus told Pontius Pilate that he came into the world to “bear
witness to the truth,” but when Pilate asked, “What is truth?” there was no answer
from Jesus.
Some feel that truth is subjective and personal, that one man’s truth comes from
his inner feelings and thinking, his viewpoint. Many add that truth is relative,
only defined by its comparison to something else. This would be similar to the
abstract question, “What is beauty?” In subjective truth, different persons would
have different truths.
Outside of philosophy, truth is not generally thought of in subjective terms. Truth
is determined by existing realities, based on facts independent of the mind. Most
people think that truth is objective. Some go so far as to say that only absolute
truth matters. "Absolute truth" is defined as inflexible reality: fixed, invariable,
unalterable facts. Absolute truth requires an absolute standard. This is the truth
of which the Watchtower organization and most other believers in the God of
the Bible are referring to when discussing "His" laws and promises and standards.
They feel that universal truth is that God exists, and many feel that His laws are
absolute truth from him. Some only agree that HE is absolute, but that what HE
means to people is subjective to their experiences.
When proclaiming the truth of religious doctrine (or teachings or whatever you want to
call them) whose translation are we using, and which ancient Greek or Hebrew meaning are
we applying? The religious person usually resorts to saying that our perspective on
truth should come from the absolute authority of the creator of all things. They teach
that the creator determines what is right and what is wrong, and that the absolute truth
we seek is knowledge of His will for His creation. This is “the truth” that, unlike
beauty, does not lie in the eye of the beholder. It’s just a shame that we need humans
to interpret what that absolute truth is, and to tell us what they think God’s will is
for us.Further, eastern philosophy generally makes room for more subjective truths. It is
your truth that God is an absolute. It is another person's that God is not an absolute. Thanks for letting me clear that up for you. Carry on.

What is universal truth?
"That" in which everything arises - it is always present and never changes. It is not a doctrine, a teaching of any kind, an idea, a thing - it is formless and is transcendent to all partial truth. Because it is formless it is "unborn" - in other words, it never dies because it has never been born, yet it is what allows all form to exist.
What is partial truth?
Whatever arises in relation to something else that has arisen. It has form, which can then be compared to other forms, but because it has form it has a certain lifespan.

"Beauty is truth, truth beauty," - that is all/Ye know on earth, and all ye need to know." Keats.
Sorry, BTS, just had to finish that quote.

Truth is the opposite of a lie.
Truth is based on fact that can be verified. The French word for truth is verite. See how close it is to the english word verified. And in Latin the word for truth again is Ver, veri, veritas.
The word Truth extends from honesty, good faith and sincerity.
When Jesus was asked, "are you the King of the Jews?" PP's reply was what is truth? Are you the King of the Jews? And Jesus said,"you yourself already said it."
Mind you there are many people who swear they are telling you the truth and maybe they might be, but it isn't the whole truth either this is called equivacating. Oh there may be a little truth but for the most part it their slant or version of what happen and it may be really qutie distorted. So really in point of fact it isn't the real truth it is a story that of some truth with a lie added spice to make it sound believable. Many people do this in courts of law.
I think Grace doesn't have a big mouth You are an excellent Christian and a fine example to all.
