hi all time jeff you say fair comment but you focus in on imperfection, I buy into the first statement like you do, and you say yourself we can make it that way with a set of good elders this is what is taught and this is what people want! Isn't that what we will get? If all are taught this?
I think you said it all. It isn't a focus on imperfection. For example, many organizations have rules. You must enforce your own standards. Their can be no favoritism for those used as an example.
And yet, this is what happens frequently. The reason why "imperfections" rule is precisely because "holy spirit" is not at work, because from the top down, starting with the Governing Body, there are lies and hypocrisy that have already been verified and documented. Who knows what we don't know. Suffice to say, if Jehovah is as exacting as they teach, then the GB has much to be concerned about.
hi all time jeff, I agree with you theory is not practical application but then if it is human imperfection that is causing the failing of the practical isn't that going to condemn all religions? if that is our measure? (italics mine)
Out of the mouths of babes.....
It is a failing of all religions that they are all about their own hiearchy and organization, first and foremost. If you, the lay worshipper happen to benefit, that is secondary to the organizations own needs and survival. What condemns all religions is really the superstitious nature of their claims: That they represent god as a spokesmen/messenger, That they have authority over their members, That they alone represent the one true path to god, all of which is unproveable.
It's their own actions that condemn organized religion. JW's are just one of many groups who make a lot of noise, but cannot back up one thing they say.
That isn't a focus on imperfection. That is a focus on facts and truth.
