    If 1914 goes, they cease to be a religion, IMO. But, that's another thread.

    When I was in, it was 1914. And I have never heard of a different date.

    Strange that they would pick the time when we are alive--religious scams have been pulling that crap as long as man has been alive, and will be pulling it as long as religion has the power to sucker or force people to join.

    I used to try to explain the discrepancies noted in this thread when I was an elder by refering to that "fully accomplished" comment they make. As in a human war, a period of time goes by. Victory or defeat for that matter doesn't come overnight. If war broke out in heaven it could have taken the four years for Jesus to win. Further the turmoil on earth was a by product of the greater turmoil in heaven. That's what I USED to teach. Now of course I know it's all BS.

    Yes, the imprisonment of a few religious fanatics with grandiosely large egos, like Joseph Rutherford, in 1918, is absolute proof that Satan was ousted in 1914 and persecuted the true church. For someone so important and righteous as Joseph Rutherford to be imprisoned it must have been the debil. Rutherford of course wrote this 1925 Watchtower article.

    Here's my question;

    If Satan was thrown out of heaven and landed on earth, having a great anger, is WWI the worst he could do?

    1914 or 1918. What's the relevance?

    I'd like to know what the difference is between Russell predicting/divining that 1914 would be a marked year and the wise men divining that Jesus would be special and divining his whereabouts. Why does the wts cast one story in such a bad light and not the other.

    the 1914 prediction means a lot to JWs and much of their authority stems from the publicity they give it. I'd like to see it de-mystified by comparing it to the three wise men story but hardly know where to begin and I also have to finsih something I'm working on.

    Good point, quietlyleaving. They recent said in a WT 'proving' that healing by faith is demonic that [divinely revealed] knowledge would be done away with. If 'knowledge' would be done away with when the last of the apostles died - as would healing - then how come Russell had it 'divinely revealed' to him that Christ returned in 1874? Oh wait, that date was false, so couldn't have been divinely revealed.

    And what about Rutherford having the date 1925 'divinely revealed' to him? Ah, again, false date. So it couldn't have been revealed divinely.

    Add 1914, 1918, 1919, 1975 etc to the above 'divinely revealed' knowledge argument...ok, you see my point.

    just what I mean passwordprotected. Most of their predictions have turned out to be wrong - 5 out of 6 from the ones you've mentioned. what does that say about the source of their predictions and according to them faith healing is demonic ???

    Imo what is revealed (if anything) is that, (reasoning according to WTS logic) there was some truth around during the late 19th/early 20th century, when different denominations were predicting 1914 but it is clear that JWs strayed away from divine inspiration .
