I'm amazed slimboyfat can raise the enthusiasm to be reading May's Watchtower.

Just to whet your appetite even more.

...another interesting thing in the magazine I thought was the study article aimed at young people, not so much for what it says as what it does not say. It talks about pressures on young people but does not mention higher education at all. Also there is a section on preparing for a successful marriage, but no mention of the possibility of 'making room for singleness' as they did in the past. Is this a sign they are becoming a bit less strict?

    Now, THAT's interesting.

I remember that there was a reference to Satans outcast in 1918 in the Prince of Peace-Book.

The QfR about Satan starting WWI to confuse the nations about the Gentile time's end must have been in the 40s.

So the (older teaching, anyway) was that the "war in heaven" began in 1914, but wasn't finished until 1918?

Dang! Satan must be stronger than we thought, if it takes Jesus & the angels 3.5 years to figure out how to finally defeat him.

So, were there named battles & skirmishes in this war? "The "Battle of the Pleiades", perhaps, or the "Skirmish at Alpha Centauri"? Did the battles ebb and flow? Was there a time when Satan looked to be gaining the upper hand?

What, exactly, was going on in those 3.5 years? What does a "spiritual battle" look like?

Or is it all a bunch of hooey?

    slimboy,

The only thing I can conclude is that the book "Then Is Finished the Misery of Dog" makes it pretty clear that it took 4 long years to oust Satan and his mean ol' demons from Heaven. He must have put up a hell of a fight to make Jehovah, Jesus and all the good angels take so damn long to kick his ass out of heaven!

    On another note:

:Have they got rid of 1918?

No, and they can't. 1918 is also tied to first resurrection, or the heavenly resurrection of all anointed ones "sleeping" in death. It is also tied to the "Babylonish capitivity" period which leads to the 1919 appointment of the FDS getting power over all Christ's belongings. Drop that date and the claims about 1919 falls.

:Maybe they will also get rid of the ridiculous interpretation of the "days" of the book of Daniel they maintain correspond to convention dates at the moment too.

I think you are referring to the 7 trumpet blasts in Revelation which "points" to 7 annual JW assemblies in the 1920's.

:It would be great if they got rid of 1914 and the wonky chronology altogether, but that might be a step too far depending on who sets the agenda at the top.

Never can happen, since 1918 and 1919 are joined at-the-hip with 1914.

This is what I remember without the CD. The WTS taught that the anointed started being resurrected to heaven in 1918 (Nisan 14) and that the heavens had to be completely cleansed of Satan and the demons by that time.

The casting out of Satan and the demons started in 1914 but perhaps was not complete until 1918. The WTS compared the time from the beginning of WW1 and the end of WW1 to being the approximate time period during which Jesus and the angels battled Satan and the demons.

Here's what we wanna know: Did Jesus do that battle with Satan wearing clothes? Or did he do it naked?
