  God and Noah : The truth and nothing but the truth:

  

  Genesis 6:11-12
  The earth was corrupt before God and filled with crime. God saw the earth, and saw that it was corrupt, for all living beings had perverted their ways on the earth.

  Putting on my bible scholar hat, I think the fish swam everywhere in pre-delugian times, 'cos they were more perfect before the flood. Like bees never stung, lions only ate grass and snakes weren't poisonous (and some could even talk).
