My female friend just got divorced recently, I was shocked to see her email few minutes ago and she asked me if I think she is sexy and pretty? I do not know what to say to her since I do not find her attractive. I consider her as a friend, thats it. I do not want to hurt her feelings. What should I say to her?

Do you think she is interested in you? Has she expressed interest before? Have you been her confidante through the divorce? I'm in the midst of a separation, and I know how hard it is. It's friggin lonely, you've lost your self-confidence, you are scared of being alone for the rest of your life... It sucks... I don't know your relationship but maybe rather than answering bluntly, tell her that you know that someone is going to come along who thinks she is sexy & pretty, and as her friend, you know she deserves someone who will see her in that way, it just takes time.

Megs, Yes she is interested in me. She was interested in me before she married that last guy. When she expressed interest in me before she married that guy, I kinda of changed the subject in a very polite way, we have not been in touch that regularly, I guess she wants to try again on me, but I need to know what to say to her without hurting her feelings. She has told me her reason for the divorce is that her ex husband has a very bad temper. We live in different states.

Relate your own ups and downs and mention that you are a firm believer in not looking to the past for romantic relationships (she should get the hint if she is hitting on you)

Ask her out for a drink. Make sure you don't shower for at least 3 days, don't shave, and pick your nose in front of her. Wear a T-shirt that says "drink till she's cute", and get really, really drunk so that you can't get it up even if she's still interested after everything else you've done.

Short and to the point is always the best answer. "No, I don't think you're pretty, but I'm sure you'll find someone who does cause you've got a great personality." Honesty is always the most sound policy.
