#7 They need confirmation that they're still doing the right thing themselves
This should be reason # 1 for R&F

3.) The elders are encouraging you to go back because it is Society policy
The elders "encourage" (cannot bring myself to print that without quotes) you to go back
because there's a publisher's card for an inactive one or DF'ed one that they are obligated
to do something about. Plus, trying to visit you is much more exciting than going door-2-door
with the rank and file. Either they actually succeed, or they have a great apostate story for
gossip. -

They haven't tried to encourage me...

Virgochik
In my parents' case, I think they're embarrassed about me, ashamed that I left "the truth." When people I grew up with ask how I'm doing, they'd give their right leg to be able to say, "Oh, Sister Virgochik's sooo strong in the organization, bla-bla." Instead, I wonder what they do come up with to say.
They think they failed as parents because I didn't stick with the way I was raised, what a humilliation I am to them!

"5.) They genuinely care about you"
Haven't heard from an elder or any JW except for my parents for 30 years. I think that qualifies for their genuinely NOT caring about me.

Poztate - what is an FO? I know of one meaning, but not the Jw context you use.
