Throughout the history of JW's, what years do think they strayed most from being "God's People"? Who was responible for this, and why do you think this?

From day one, they were deceivingly corrupt, possibly the business side of the organization did that that to them

and of course the always elusive obtainable power. highlighting...... the almighty Judge Rutherford

Personally I would say the years just prior to 1975 were the most corrupt and possibly their most profitable. $$$

Putting aside all of their incorrect beliefs and false prophecies, in order for Jehovah's Witnesses to be God's people, you would have to prove that Jesus established a "faithful and discreet slave" class of people in 33 A.D. to distribute "food at the proper time". Then you would have to prove that there was a vast apostasy that caused this slave class to hide underground for 1800 years until Russell appeared on the scene. There's a chain of invisible links that just doesn't exist. We were all deceived into thinking all of the above happened, when it never did. Therefore, they were never God's people.

No one can "prove" the Slave doctrine. It is impossible. Therefore, the religion's basis is flawed.

lurk's question, while flawed, is typical of some newly exited who still hold on to the belief that "The Truth" really was the truth until it got off track. So I think he/she's wondering when we saw the wheels started to come off the Society's "chariot."

And the answer to that is: It depends on when you became a dub, how long you were in, and which segment of JW history you were a "witness" to.

Many of us were true believers at some point, to some extent. Then we stopped believing. For me, that was when dubs stopped being "God's People" and became just another religion at best, a cult at worst. I'd date my own personal revelation at 1990 due to some things I saw happen in the organization then that caused me to doubt. The nail in the coffin was 1995, when the central teaching on "this generation" was tossed aside with a lame explanation and almost no visible reaction from the rank and file. Even then, it took me several more years to walk away; that's how powerful a hold this cult has on its members.

So, that's me; someone else's mileage may vary.

No one can "prove" the Slave doctrine.

The faithful discreet slave is a PARABLE.

It was never meant to be twisted into a doctrine!

Jesus NEVER set up any doctrine nor made any implication.

Jesus did not set up a theocracy.

He said his kingdom was not of this world.

Doesn't anyone know the difference between a parable and a doctrine?????

Well there weren't any "Jehovah's WItnesses" before 1931 (?) before that they were "International Bible Students" (?)

How about from 1874 onwards , when they said Christ had arrived then.

flawed from the occult beginnings of Russell, the drunken despotic rule of Rutherford through to the murderous rule of Knorr( Malawi, enforcement of no blood etc),continued through the reign of Freddie and Milton , and much the same to the present so they've never really had any examples at all .

From the very moment that C. T. Russell began applying his twisted pyramidology theories towards the Bible...to this very minute.

In other words, they have never been 'God's people'. NEVER.
