I know ....so you,re lying on the ground then . saw mark and gail getting baptized today. Met people who have said they've been praying for all of us at the local KH for the past few years. Do you think their prayers were answered? I looked around the church today and counted 12 ex JWs not including children, 9 of which were from the local KH. would have bin 10 if you were there.

no but there was an EX dub up here on weeks visit who used to go to hall, mother still active, who last year started praying for everyone she remembered by name to come out of org. When her mum told her about the exodus of all of us she burst into tears and couldnt stop crying. She went to KBC cos her mum told her thats where mark and gail go. she was looking for them and us when someone told her that M and G were at Riverside. She rushed across to witness it and see us all. A pretty amazing coincidence. Once she goes will tell you who it is, her mum will throw her out if she says she went to church.

Just be thankful your not one of these stupid ignorant people ( JWS ) that would hurt more than someone giving you a simple snub wouldn't ?

She is probably more afraid of you than a thirty ton truck approaching with all its lights on and the horn blasting. You see she has been taught that because you quit the Org. you are one of Satans little helpers .It might appear to be bad manners but in reality it's naked fear that is causing her to react in the way she does ,she cannot help it, the words from the Watchtower will be sounding off in her head, warning her not to be contaminated by association.

All this shunning nonsence reminds me of the old saying " sending someone to Coventry" which came about when someone did not agree with a form of action or policy and nobody would talk to the so called offending person. Years ago their was a film made about it called The Angry Silence, but that was about industrial relations. Come to think of it ,because the Watchtower is an industry of book sellers ,it probably applies just as well. In any case shunning practices are evil and a form of bullying.

Forgive us our trespasses works two ways but the Witlesses do not see it like that.

I found this convo interesting because yesterday at work, the cleaning lady (who is a Witness, and I was just df'ed last week) felt the need to approach the doctor I work for and inform him that I was a df'ed Witness and that I was not "allowed" in her church, and she would not be speaking to me. (There's no reason why she would need to speak to me at work anyways.)

Anyhow, the Doctor asked her why she was telling him this. He pointed out to her that he, himself could be an ex-Witness and maybe she was offending him right now. When he told me about the experience, he told me that if I wanted to go back to my church, he would be glad to write a letter for me, telling them what a great person I was and how much he admired me. I said, "No, thank you."

Then he told me that if my church accepted people like her, and shunned people like me, then there was something seriously wrong with it.

I didn't see this earlier.... How stupid of this woman...first of all, how unprofessional is this? (assuming a cleaning woman would worry about being professional) Secondly, didn't she wonder that a highly skilled man that has a doctorate degree might think this sounds a bit petty? After all, if he saw someone he didn't agree with religiously, would he refuse to treat him if he was injured? But in the end, it resonated with him that the religion itself is lacking if this is the manners displayed by this woman. What the doctor said in the end is priceless.

putting the story in the newspaper would put the story back in the playground where it belongs - not a good idea in my opinion

the focus on JWs in the press should child abuse, blood and the serious consequences of shunning ie suicide, mental and emotional illness and family breakup

Hey there, I think you're right about the lack of manners thing absolutely. It's a total lack of civility........it's not like you are expecting a conversation or anything......just for her to be civil and to do her job properly....

Anyway....I'm Rhoda but I can't quite figure out who you are although I am excited about the thought that there are so many from my old congregations who have left.......We'll need to have some kind of reunion where you can discuss whatever subject you want and have any opinion on it without worrying about df'ing.
