Ironic, isn't it... out of all the dishonest, unethical behaviour the WTS / JWs have perpetrated over the years (the Katrina insurance scandal, the pedophile scandal, the Phillip Morris scandal, the UN scandal, etc etc etc) and they are terrified of the governments making them pay taxes. Well, terrified and at the same time hoping for it to happen.
I imagine every corporate religion has the same fear, and they package it in the same way to rally the troops of believers. Yes, people, the sky will fall when religions have to pay tax on the income they bring in. And on the property they own. And on the salaries stipends, benefits and gifts that their agents receive. Just like everyone else on the planet.
Cry me a farking river. I'm looking forward to it, because, maybe - just maybe, if religions had to pay their share like everyone else, my taxes just might not be so high. Why should I subsidize organizations whose tenets and teachings I do not believe??
