I admit that this subject is far beyond the realm of my experience, but I just can't understand how someone would support a child manipulating its body through surgery to add parts that it never had. What's the deal?
press interview tomorrow, can DF be far behind?

Hi Chickpea, hope all goes well, what a courageous thing to do in your attempt to overcome prejudice and illuminate the situation of people who are transgender.
I read Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides, which deals with this subject.

i actually am more than a little
PO'd with myself for even giving
a second thought to the b0rg....it must be a residual implant
from nearly 20 yrs of blah blah blah....a really funny thing, our little town
now has a PFLAG chapter...
and guess who they asked to
sit on a panel in june?the tide has turned so completely, ya know?
thanks for reinforcing that for me folks...
there are so few people i would even miss
that it is inconsequential at this point...
and should they emerge from that doom's day
atmosphere, they will know where to find me....@ john doe>> listen, mate
i dont have time to bring you into the fold
but i assure you i was once as uniformed as you....
i can equally assure you i came up to speed fast since
this is my child and i fully embrace my responsibilities
to guide his decisions toward a sound and prosperous life.....he is diagnosed, in therapy and a long long way off
from being qualified for any sort of sexual reassignment
surgery..... which is HIGHLY regulated and restricted
for obvious reasons.... the idea of a capricious indulgence
in such matters is unimaginable....
following protocol, he is living the life (as male)
in a one school district town, with students who
grew up knowing him as a girl... this kid's courage....
i cannot begin to tell you.... i simply cannotthanks again for the boost, JWN...
i am prepared to slay dragonschickpea (of the bring.it.on. class)

Scarred for life
Chickpea:
I hope all goes well. You and your son are very courageous. You are an outstanding Mom. You will have the love and respect and adoration of your son for your whole life. Your relationship with him will be priceless. You'll forget completely about the borg. You have a great life to live and important mission. I salute you.

the best revenge, my friend, is to live a GREAT LIFE! And you two are doing that in spades!
Take THAT Borg!

Chickpea, I am glad that you are able to show your son unconditional love, something you would be pressured NOT to do if you were still in the Borg.
If I were in your shoes, I'd be terrified to send my kid off to school every day. This is not a safe world.

You're awesome supporting your son. This may not be of much comfort but I can tell you from experience that dubs don't always watch the media. I have been in the NY media, press conferences and all. And no dub ever picked up on it. I was flabergasted as I was expecting the old saw about not being involved in poilitics. I was an elder. But they are so busy they sometimes miss what's going on. here's to hoping that they do.
