A Catholic will not be ex communicated for using a condom.
    No just eternal damnation.

Wait, don't Catholics have a provision for forgiveness? Hail Mary's and such? Dubs give you no such out.

But their objection is at its core religious. That God disapproves the use of blood (or certain arbitrary parts thereof) is not a medical opinion it is a religious one.

Well thats completely fine by me - I support freedom of irrational belief.

Lets just hope the WTS progress to feel confident enough in their religious belief to leave medical misinformation out of their sales pitch - that <and promoting the right to medically execute babies> are the bones of contention here.

People have a right to refuse blood, surely, for religious (or other) reasons whether it harms them or not.

SBF - This is a blood-red herring - we are not discussing whether people have medical autonomy.

We are discussing the medical misinformation being propagated by the WTS to support an alledgedly religious belief.

Incidentally seeing as you have mentioned Catholicism I thought you may care to note that euthanasia is considered a mortal sin - would a JW voluntarily refusing life-saving therapy be considered a form of suicide?

Yes Yes Yes - all irrational beliefs are treated equally - its called freedom of religion - even Scientology benefits from the vast leeway given to freedom for stupidity here.

However, when that religion intersperses its 'irrational beliefs' with twisted medical facts and supports its 'irrational beliefs' with life-threatening medical misinformation then we have to agree whether that is behaviour the State will continue to allow.

I live with a public attorney. Felony convictions. Compton. Put it to a jury, peeps, and you will get demolished. POSTURING is easily exposed in a public trial. Whatever my view of Kerry's agenda, she is professional in thought patterns.

Of course I'm logically opposed to irrationality but I support its right to exist - I advocate for alive babies, even if they grow up to become Circuit Overseers....

Sorry, I can't read all 3 pages of this..

Seriously, Slim; have you been possessed by the errant spirit of Reniaa or is your auntie squeezing your man sack?

The Watch Tower Society is a false prophet and has never had any right to impose any sort of statue - religious or otherwise - on anyone ever. Sincere people are being misled by a group of suits in an office somewhere on the Eastern Seaboard and are allowing their kids to die as a result.

Please, stop defending the religion. No one has the right to let a child die because "a big boy in a suit told me to".

I should point out that the HLC is there to make sure JWs take blood. It seems few people realise this.

From personal experience, an elderly sister in our old cong was taken into hospital for some sort of surgery in an emergency. The HLC was on the scene before the local elders. The sister had stated in her Advanced document that she didn't want blood. At all. That was her religious decision based on her adherence to the Watch Tower Society's interpretation of Acts 15, "abstain from blood".

Of course, she didn't realise that she can actually take blood, just not all at once.

Johnny Allum of the HLC 'lovingly' explained to her why her conscience should be allowed to take blood......fractions. Now, before her conversation with Brother Allum this sister's conscience told her that she couldn't take fractions, perhaps because fractions come from blood and a Witness is to abstain from blood. However, he talked her round and she asked to change the directives on her Advanced document to now allow the doctors to give her blood......fractions.

This was related to the local BoE by the elder who was there to look after the sister. This elder marvelled at the loving way the HLC were there to assist the sister to stick to her Christian conscience.

Actually, the HLC talked this sister into taking blood. It's as simple as that.

Cults are scholastically dishonest by nature, and the Watchtower Society attempt to extend this beyond religious dogma into medical advice is merely a continuation of the same stunt.
