    If something is disgusting and filthy for one set of people (unmarried), why wouldn't it be disgusting and filthy for another set of people (married)?

    Don't even get me started on that stupid headship BS. I have a head and a brain that works just fine and I don't need my husband to make my decisions.

    I think the point has been made clearly now that the Watchtower Society considers oral and anal sex to be "unnatural sexual practices" even when carried out by married heterosexual couples.

    These sexual acts are not grounds for a so-called Scriptural divorce (more likely separation due to "spiritual endangerment" but not eligible for remarriage). If discovered, an unrepentant instigator would be viewed by the elders as disassociating his/herself by his/her actions (formerly known as being disfellowshiped).

    The definitive 1983 Watchtower article in question institutes a virtual "don't ask, don't tell" policy. Of course, this also works well for any other "secret sin" one can think of. Fornication? Homosexuality? Child abuse? Blood transfusion? Just don't let it become public knowledge or you'll get disfellowshiped! My what a twisted web they weave...

    Is it any wonder that there are so many Jehovah's Witnesses who lead double lives as a result of the guilt mongering and legalism of the Watchtower Society?

    A big thanks to Password Protected, Mrs Jones, and Vinny for their excellent comments on this thread. Most of us who really were Jehovah's Witnesses (and actually knew the doctrines) are well aware of the unreasonable position taken by the Governing Body and Writing Department on this matter. We don't need someone on the internet with little credibility telling us otherwise. For that matter, if a certain someone really is a Witness, she should be enjoying spiritual association with her brothers and sisters instead of spending time on a forum that debates religion, something that has been repeatedly and roundly condemned dozens (hundreds?) of times during this century in Watchtower publications and from the platform. Reniaa, don't you know you are grieving God's Holy Spirit? Don't you know it is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God? Or do you really not believe? I think you do not.

    Awesomely awesome post Vinny! Gotta bookmark this one for future discussions. The statement below sums up my distaste for the WTS on this issue and so many others.

    Telling them it is wrong to do things that God Himself never said.

    Exercising authority where it doesn't belong. Trying to prove their own importance in the lives of others. I feel sorry for anyone still under their authority.

    I'm going to throw this in here, ....once again. I've posted about it before.

    Many, many couples came before the elders about oral sex, and were either reproved or disfellowshiped. I still remember the names. This happened in the mid to late 70's. It was totally forbidden and a disfellowshipping offense.

    The reason I know...my father was an elder...

    We lived in a small house, I could hear everything. Let me tell you this wasn't great for an up and comming teenager. I had more sex education before I ever wanted to know thanks to the same public talk that was started by this thread, I probably heard more bedroom talk than I still want to hear to this day, based on what was told to my father.

    Sex is private, no matter who is involved....never to be discussed on a platform of any religious orginization.

    This entire thread makes me cringe with the memories.
