Apparently "lying by omission" isnt REALLY a lie to them. Hey I didnt LIE to you I just didnt tell you EVERYTHING. Whatever conclusion you draw based on what I said is YOUR problem. That holding back all the facts things also applies HEAVILY to the courts. I have watched JWs lie through their teeth in court, bold faced lied, right to the judge because they dont believe they are subject to the courts or laws or any worldly control.
Its sickening. And then they LAUGH about it.

This explains something to me personally. The witness I told regarding the WTS being a UN NGO was flabbergasted and would not believe it. He sincerely said he would look into and promised to return to me with valid answers. That's been over a year ago...nothing..nada..zilch from him.
If they can't explain something, now all they have to do is say your motives are full of cunning and trickery, and not give you an answer (probably per instructions from the CO or, if he wrote to the Society, they told him not to answer an obviously apostate question!!!!!!!!!)

KEYSER SOZE- Exactly. Members are encouraged to rat each other out to the elders , yet are told not to be nosy or busybodies. Contradictory for sure. But it's O.K. for the ELDERS to be busybodies.
TRUTHSETSONEFREE- That's the weirdness that is the WT society - they run around in circular thinking by making confusing comments so the rank and file members don't even know how to interpret the info. But you are right- they use trickery and cunning at every level, it's like the pot calling the kettle black.
ZIDDINA- Thanks. Yes- They lied about 1975, they lie to protect child abusers , and basically lie and decieve the public and their own members. Yes- I did get a bit nauseous putting this thread out there. Took some Pepto Bismol to get through it.
ALTIMEJEFF- I agree with you. The more I find out about the higher powers in the JW cult in the 5 + years I've been out - the more I feel the higher up you go in the borg it gets even more corrupt !
ASILENTONE- I agree- it is BS what the WT society does to it's members. I would not only put the info in supermarket windshields- but you know me, I'll put it in the Kingdom hall parking lot windshields ! I feel it's important for the members to know how they are being deceived !
THOMAS COVENANT- True, all of us have lied at times. But to keep perpetuating and promoting mind control by lying to it's members CONSTANTLY - the GB and WT society sets a horrible example for it's members and deceives them at the same time !
CARLA- Wow. That is awful that the elders told your JW husband to lie to you. You certainly have been the victim of abuse by the witness organization. Hang in there . Good points you make. They always rationalize away lying !
BETTERDAZE- Good point you make about the WT society obstructing justice ! Excellent ! Witholding information from doctors, police, family members, and employers. And all in the name of what ? Skewed views of truth ! Weirdos.
WTWIZARD- I agree. The public does have a right to know what's happening before they join the witnesses. But they don't tell them EVERYTHING until they get them inside, baptized ! Then- they get them under cult mind control ! And it's too late ! That's why it's good we are talking about this - perhaps some will see this and either get the hell out of the witneses or NOT JOIN !
MINIMUS- Yes- The organization has ALWAYS told lies - it's just that they are telling MORE of them as they lose members and become more desperate to retain those still in !
WUZLUVDUBS- Very true. They lie by omitting details which are very important , even in court cases. In the Gilbert Simental child abuse case the judge had to get a court order to FORCE the elders to testify and reveal details of their JC meetings with the witness molester Simental. If it wasn't for the judge FORCING the elders to testify- do you think they would have testified on their own ? Nope. They aren't good people.
OUTLAW- Pretty ironic isn't it ? They claim to have the " truth " , but promote lies. Odd,very odd.
JOURNEY ON- Due to cult mind control the witnesses are programmed just like robots to reject ANYTHING that disagrees with the WT socities views on things. Like you say they impute wrong motives of " cunning and trickery " to those on the outside trying to help. It's ironic- because the WT society uses " trickery and cunning " to teach them and control them ! A vicsious circle ! Peace out, Mr. Flipper

I don't see where this is condoning lying. I think you all are blowing it out of proportion. It's saying that being honest doesn't require disclosing every detail. And that's true. No one tells everyone every single detail they know. From Flipper's quote: "Of course , all lying is wrong."
Can anyone point out where lying is condoned? There's some pretty blatant strawmanning going on here.

I see your point, and I think there is a subtle distinction that has to be made.
Since the GB is the sole arbiter of identifying telling the truth "to those to whom its owed", then it makes it very easy to cut out the following:
- You don't have to tell the truth to the Rank and File, because they wouldn't understand. (See CoC)
- You don't have to tell the truth to the authorities. They are under Satans control and are our enemies.
- You don't have to tell the truth to the media. They are under Satans control and are our enemies.
- You don't have to say anything. It's confidential, because we say so.
It sort of a self serving, convenient policy they have....
