Jehovah's Witnesses do not know their own doctrines

I tripped up a couple of JW's at my door a while back by telling them that as a Christian I couldn't follow a religion that didn't believe Jesus was NOT my moderator. They had no idea what I was talking about and insisted that I didn't understand what JW's taught! I told them which Watchtowers to look and and told them to get back to me. They never did.

Yeah I told the last pair of JWs I invited in that Jesus was not their advocate according to the WT. They seemed a little surprised so I told them to check their CD-ROMs when they got home.

    All the best,

    Stephen

Old Hippie, I don't know about Catholics or Lutherans in particular, but the basic doctrines of the independent church I belong to will fit on a 3x5 card. I think this is true of most Christian religions. Similarly, most Christians will expect that there might be three or four possible (and acceptable) positions on most subjects. The rapture is a good example. My Bible encyclopedia lists our the arguments for and against the three main understandings, and leaves it up to the reader to decide what he wants to believe. Can you imagine that happening in a WTBS publication? The trouble for JW's is the WTBS feels compeled to give an official understanding of every single line in the Bible. And JW's are expected to believe whatever the explanation is.
