  Something Mickeymouse said about there maybe being a deliberate intention behind these words in the article has made me start wondering two things: 1 - Is there a less than loyal bethelite in the writing dept who has slipped this in to make JWs who are shunning their family members start thinking or 2 - Is this a tiny increment in a softening up of JWs for a change of the shunning policy by the WTS When I first read the article and posted it I was too angry and upset by it to consider these possibilities.   I can think of one person who was forced to worship in a way he found 'unacceptable' if he wanted to keep his Witness family.

  The Watchtower has always had doublestandards and made such comments. It is simply marketing. "No one should be made to choose between family and religion (... except if you are in The Truth)." I don't think the writers are even consciously are aware of how hypocritical they are being.

  I am speechless. Being so renowned and supportive of shunning, what possible reason could the writer have for including such doublespeak?

  I agree. I believe this article without a doubt shows how confused the leadership of Jehovah's Witnesses really is. Any deep discussion on shunning would show that they hold a double standard, and to let material of this nature to be published shows either a kind of arrogence like no other or complete ignorance of logic.

  It should be also noted that all of the actions regarding freedom are credited to "god". The actions of the organization are not referanced at all. This gives the false impression that the JWs are more liberal than they really are.

  The Watchtower Bible Tract Society which controls all Jehovah's Witnesses uses mind control and such articles to mislead people. The idea is to implant the thinking that they are the only true path and that all religions are false when the truth is they are the false religion. We who have been affected by the JW's religion know all too well how authoritarian the whole set of this religion. How we were told every single meeting how we were and are the truth, we were the ministers of the only truth about God, the Divine, the truth about life. Of course now we know it was all total lies. Its all part of the mind control used so effectively by cult religions.

  We can never expect anything but continued mind control from the WTBTS, it will never change because the men who run this organization have no truth or integrity and least of all any connection to any god at all. Its all complete lies.

  You would think so wouldn't you?

  But what I have learned is that once we believe, I mean really believe, "We have the truth", "Ours is the true faith", or any of those variations, we make excuses. Or we just don't allow ourselves to see the negatives.

  Sadly, everybody does it, Muslums, JDubs, Protestants and Catholics.

  It's part of our equipment to protect our sanity from the everencroaching cognitive dissonance.
