I view it as just living my life.
My parents & side of the family, say I've chosen the side of the "world". They are on the side of "Jehovah". They will bend for no one!

Everyone is light and dark. Many can't face/accept it, so they project it onto satan or somesuch. So, by rejecting the 'darkness' they are rejecting a part of themselves. Cut off arm, or gouge out an eye is better, according to jesus. Cut off your balls, according to paul.

As far as sides go, the July '09 Awake has this to say:
“No one should be forced to worship in a way that he finds unacceptable or be made to choose between his beliefs and his family.”
JW's have the narrow view that they are on one side of the fence and Satan has the other side of the fence AND THE FENCE ITSELF.
That is just silly. One little tiny proof that JW's don't have the truth puts them over the fence with the rest of us, then nothing would be on the other side. It doesn't work for me.
I think of it as having chosen reality over fantasy. So in that sense, yes I have chosen sides.
It is not so much choosing sides as it is just an evolution of thinking processes. When you are younger, it is common to think in a black/white fashion. The lines between wrong and right are concrete and certain.
Life eventually teaches you that the lines are often blurred and no one is all good or bad. Take time to just observe life as it is rather than to render judgement. There is no need to "take a side".
Of course, the witnesses have every thing neatly sorted into good and bad and cannot suspend judgement.
I don't think I've chosen a side to be on but I've certainly chosen what side not to be on.
Here's where the line is drawn.
24 "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life.

But..... what if [gasp] the Bible is not correct?
Then all that Black and White opinion... yes opinion... just turns into a big grey blob of nothing, eh?
Jeff
False dichotomy. JWs are very fond of those. As was George Bush.
Hi Jeff,
But..... what if [gasp] the Bible is not correct?
Well that is an option and a possibility. Obviously, that is not my conclusion though :)
Then all that Black and White opinion... yes opinion... just turns into a big grey blob of nothing, eh?
I dunno. I think most people believe there is truth and conversely there are lies. Most here realise you are not going to hear truth at the kingdom halls. However, most are looking for truth or feel they have found it.
So if you have not rejected God why don't you ask Him what He has to say? After all, if He exists He can hear you, either if you speak out loud or in your mind. He may not answer in the way you expect but I guarantee He will in the coming days.
Secondly, why don't you try and read the bible? Use pretty much any version save the NWT! Once again you can ask Him "God, if this is your book let me hear what you have to say" or something. If you do really want to find out about Him I guarantee that something will happen when you read like no other book does. Some parts will come alive and talk to your spirit. So, go for the New Testament, pretty much anything that takes you fancy save Revelation is my advise.
Plenty of decent version here BibleGateway.com: A searchable online Bible in over 100 versions ...
All the best,
Stephen
