    Burn, do you mean the non-Catholics who are here?

    BTW, if you're ever up my way, the University of Dayton has the world's largest collection of printed materials on Mary. It's really something to see. You should visit.

    I enjoyed The Beatles prayer to Mary The Beatles - Let It Be (1970)

    I don't think it did John Lennon or George Harrison any good or anyone else who prays to her or "the saints.

    Mary can't hear them

    Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 (New International Version)

    5 For the living know that they will die,
    but the dead know nothing;
    they have no further reward,
    and even the memory of them is forgotten.

    6 Their love, their hate
    and their jealousy have long since vanished;
    never again will they have a part
    in anything that happens under the sun.

    Jesus is the only way to the Father

    John 14:6 (New International Version)

    6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

    All the best,

    Now I do not know in all the Scriptures anything that so well serves such a purpose as this sacred hymn of the most blessed Mother of God, which ought indeed to be learned and kept in mind by all who would rule well and be helpful lords. Truly she sings in it most sweetly of the fear of God, what manner of lord He is, and especially what His dealings are with those of high and of low degree. Let another listen to his love singing a worldly ditty; this pure Virgin well deserves to be heard by a prince and lord, as she sings him her sacred, chaste and salutary song. It is a fine custom, too, that this canticle is sung in all the churches daily at vespers, and to a particular and appropriate setting that distinguishes it from the other chants. May the tender Mother of God herself procure for me the spirit of wisdom, profitably and thoroughly to expound this song of hers, so that your Grace as well as we all may draw therefrom wholesome knowledge and a praiseworthy life, and thus come to chant and sing this Magnificat eternally in heaven. To this may God help us. Amen.

    Martin Luther, introduction to the commentary on the Magnificat, 1521.

    Sure. At least I include them. I know the Anglicans and Orthodox for example, honor Mary. "A great and wondrous sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head." I am only starting to learn about her, I visited the national shrine to Mary, Queen of the Universe last year in Orlando, FL.

    Hail, our Queen and Mother blest!
    Joy when all was sadness,
    Life and hope you gave mankind,
    Mother of our gladness!
    Children of the sinful Eve,
    Sinless Eve, befriend us,
    Exiled in this vale of tears:
    Strength and comfort send us!

    Pray for us, O Patroness,
    Be our consolation!
    Lead us home to see your Son,
    Jesus, our salvation!
    Gracious are you, full of grace,
    Loving as none other,
    Joy of heaven and joy of earth,
    Mary, God's own Mother!

    Martin Luther, introduction to the commentary on the Magnificat

    The Magnificat is taken from Luke 1:46-55 and also echoes 1 Samuel 2:1-10

    My soul magnifies the Lord,
    And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior.
    For He has regarded the low estate of His handmaiden,
    For behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed.
    For He who is mighty has done great things for me, and holy is His name. And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
    He has shown strength with His arm:
    He has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
    He has put down the mighty from their thrones,
    and exalted those of low degree.
    He has filled the hungry with good things;
    and the rich He has sent empty away.
    He has helped His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy;
    As He spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to His posterity forever.

    Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
    As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen

    I used to when I was RC.

    I loved singing the Latin stuff - Regina Coeli and Alma Redemptoris especially, besides the various Ave Marias.

    I don't feel the need to actively seek intercession from the saints now. I know they're praying/interceding for the whole church anyway - Revelation 8: 3-4, Hebrews 12: 1-3. But I no longer knock those who still do (when I first quit the RC church, I was very anti praying to the saints - I've moved on since then). I don't see much difference between asking you to pray for me and asking a saint to pray for me (waiting for an atheist to chime in with 'neither will get you an answer anyway'!).

    Even the Rosary is mostly meditation on events in Christ's life. "Mary treasured these things in her heart", can we not ponder and treasure them with her if it draws us closer to her son?

    Whilst I type this post, I'm looking across at an icon of 'Our Lady of Perpetual Succour' which rests on the shelf above my fireplace - a painting which holds very deep symbolism, such that it draws me closer to Christ in prayer whilst recognising Mary's important role in our salvation too (no I don't mean she has a direct part in salvation Chalam, LOL!)

    It's a good thing that I have Mary as my mother, since my JW mother sucks. I still can't believe a woman could give birth to a child and then turn her back on that child and its offspring because they don't want to be part of a cult.

    Besides, the Blessed Virgin is a lot nicer than my bio-mom.
