May I say - why aren't you feeding her (and you) more fruits and veg?

There's some certain food where she is on a Diabetic and Renal diet. She can have some, but not every day outside of that diet. Moderation is key.

She can't have Phosphorus, Calcium and Potassium.

Some fruits gives her the bad case of the runs. (Especially now, she doesn't need the runs).

Well crap, I dunno what happen but apparently the transportation system lost my wife's doctor appointment for today at 2 PM, so we had to reschedule for Thursday instead, so we'll have two doc appointments back to back, one at 11:15 AM and the other at 2 PM.

We saw a family doctor today and he saw the list of medication my wife is currently taking and I guess it's not going over well with him. So he suggested a Internal Medicine Doctor. So, we'll be looking into one soon. We got a list for the ones in the next town south of us, 10-15 min drive from here.

My wife instead is gonna try to enjoy her day outside by sitting out the porch. It's a beautiful day, full of sunshine and supposed to be 75 degrees today.

When she gets her new electric wheelchair being delivered tomorrow, I'll try to coax her into using it to take a stroll around our little ol' town after she gets back from the Renal Center. She sure could use fresh air and sunshine. She's like a flower needing all the TLC she can get.

Still got more stuff to work on, a lift for her so it'll be easier to get out of bed and into the chair and vice versa. It'll be a long while before we get everything we need and for the dust to finally settle.

Gotta go, gonna push her out to the porch for some air and sun.

    Post ya laters.

Bizzy Bee is right about the chips, bread, cookies, and processed food diet. It makes people unhealthy and obese and causes organ failure. Other than that, you are doing a marvelous job:)

Thanks. We try not to get heavy on those stuff. She does get plenty of veggies, plenty of it from Meals on Wheels. She can eat some fruits, but not all of them. Oranges, grapes gives her the bad case of the runs. I forget what other fruits that does the same. But I never see her have any problems with veggies.

She does get plenty of protein per se her renal doctor. She can have bacon, but not ham. So she gets plenty of good meat to keep her protein level up.

We donated the old electric wheelchair today, some church came and picked it up. Tomorrow we get a new one.

She enjoyed the sun today and is now taking an easy in bed watching, bleh, Jerry Springer. I can't stand that show.

    Oh well!

    Post ya latahs!

    Y-man:

You are a man among men! usually it is difficult for a man to care for his sick wife and handle all the duties a household requires, not to mention all the doctors and medical appointments.. I speak from experience as I too took care of my ailing mate for 5 years - it brings a lot of satisfaction, knowing they are at home with you, you can converse, and enjoy each other in a myriad of ways... and somehow, it is not a chore but brings a great measure of satisfaction, knowing you are doing all you can to make them confortable ---but please dont let yourself get tired out.. you will need a break from time to time and it doesnt mean you dont love her any less, its just a break to help you revive yourself to be able to carry on without getting depressed yourself. I know there must be many support groups in your area so reach out if you need too or have some of the family set in for a few hours while you get a break.

You may want to purchase a baby monitor where you will hear your wife or her movements - I had one as well , I also had a small camera connected to our tv in the rec room where I could see the hospital bed at all times when I went on the aux channel - it worked well, also it had audio as well as video... that may save you running to check all the time

A few thoughts but mostly, my admiration for folks like you are very genuine

    Y,

Do you know of a company that sells high quality vibrating alarm clocks? Mine is not working right. It has fits during the night and scares the hell out of me. I used to think the bed was demonized! Hahaha.

You are one of the good guys, and your wife must be a wonderful girl to deserve you!

I'm glad she is home, even with the difficulties you are presently experiencing. I hope all goes better for you on Thurs.

There is a very yummy, high fiber bread called Squirrelly Bread that Costco sells, if you have a friend with a membership. No refined flour, just whole grains. Tastes light, but kind of dry if you eat it plain. Really good, though. Ask someone to pick you up the two loaf package(they freeze well). It would probably help her sugars. And other stuff:) I put too much butter on it, but a light smear of peanut butter does the job well.

Give her my kind regards. I hope she is all well soon!

How much sodium does the bread have?

    Dear Yiz....

    You sound like an angel.

Please, please take care of yourself too. I know thats hard to do. But if you don't, you'll never be able to keep up this pace of care taking.

If you get sick and worn out, you will no longer be able to take this kind of care you are giving your wife. I know its hard to imagine leaving her or the house for an hour or two but you must. If you are working that doesn't count.

The stress you are building up will eventually destroy you. I helped take care of my dad, with my mom. He was totally bed ridden. After a few months, its almost like you are not functioning.

You sound like a special guy....take care of him.

    r.
