Yes. Nothing more than large bangs, but I don't want to go into details here. And I was about 45 years younger and a lot less wise.

Since when did explosives become a taboo subject? What boy hasn't played around with them? What chemist didn't get started making things go boom?

Take a bunch of banannas and put them in the blender with about 1/4 cup molases. Blend well. Then put the mixture in a PLASTIC container with lid. (DO NOT use glass)
Be sure you take this outside immediately. Give it an hour. You will get a big bang and don't stand too close to it or you will be covered in sticky bananna.

as a lad i blew up many a glass bottle packed with black powder and i became very handy with saltpeter recipies........
oh and surgical gloves filled to very large size with propane.......yum

Many match heads and much reloading gunpowder went into my pyrotechnics. One amazingly flammable substance is cattail fuzz. For those that are wondering if I shaved a feline, cattails are a type of plant, reeds, that grow on the shores of lakes.

I'd rather watch blow ups on Mythbusters, it's safer that way.
