Minimus...Isnt it amazing that we dont even have to think for a SECOND about this question and can list point after point after page of things that were not Biblical that the JWs threatened us into believing or be disfellowshipped and have everything we love taken away?
Sounds more like the Klan than Christianity.

jesus, said the "load" of his followers would be light.
I guess any ex-JW can attest that after leaving the load of the watchtower these words of jesus can be seen easily!
wow, WUZlovesbubs, we don't have to really think of ALL those rules and regulations (or as they say "principles")! fresh air

Hi jam,
while job obviously loved god its clear he was not an israelite and probs was well before abrahams time.
Job 1:3 (New International Version)
3 and he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, five hundred yoke of oxen and five hundred donkeys, and had a large number of servants. He was the greatest man among all the people of the East.
some translations say oriental here. He was probs near enough to the flood to be in the pockets of those split by language differences but still having a love of God. His wife clearly didn't and there is no indication his children did.

My wife was reading the WT for tomorrows study and made some comment how amazing it was that Jesus was in his 30s when he was baptized. I mentioned to her how in the bible folks merely have to accept Jesus as their savior and they are baptized, they don't need to study a bunch of books, answer a bunch of questions and then declare their association with 'God's spirit directed organization'.....
Also in Acts 10 and 11, a Centurion (Roman Solider) is baptized immediately, Peter did not care that he was a soldier, from what I have read the Centurion did not need stop becoming a soldier.
I guess the point I am trying to make is that the complete way that the wts has twisted baptism is unbiblical....

insearchoftruth they have to be clear on their message becasue a person has to know what they are getting baptised into lol can you imagine the outcry on JWN if Jws just started baptism without actually showing people the message of what we believe?
Did Jesus just baptise people or was he the Great teacher first? by your understanding Jesus was being dogmatic by doing things like the sermon on the mount and preaching so people knew his message.

Chalam,
There is not the tension or competition about who saves in scripture that you are trying to create in the witness position, although the nwt confuses the process in their rendering of the passages in Acts.
John 5 shows the process of power being grantd from Father to Son, this is symbiosis not an either or position. Christ is front and center leading humanity to God, his Father from whom he recieves the authority to save, pardon sin and resurrect.
That was pretty basic Jewish messianic theology of the period- see DSS 11Q13.

Reniaa: Did Jesus just baptise people or was he the Great teacher first? Puhleese renny.....jesus never baptised ANYBODY!...of course if the FDS says he did, you would believe it...just like last year they had a pic of him praying...and the caption said he used the name JEHOVAH in prayer!?!?!?....NOT!!...see there is not a single time in ANY bible where he did that...but you prob believe it cause FDS say it happened.
By the way...you still seem chicken to take on why an ORIGIN of a holiday should matter if is so ancient that almost NOBODY celebrating the holiday knows it, and also the ORIGIN is not linked to the MOTIVE of why an individual is choosing to celebrate the occasion (i thougt only jesus/god could read hearts and determine motives?)...one thing for sure...if the angels where so happy about jesus birth that they sang out and partied and it was a big enough deal to put in the bible........that would be good enough for me............oompa i did a wt cd search on origins of teachings and their ONE attempt at explaining why it (since 1950) would matter today is totally lame...not even an argument...just an opinion of the fds
