Now THAT is funny! Don't worry, the "short period of time" ended in 1914, and it ended visibly. A Watchtower "generation" is now 2000 years, but according to Russell, the Time of the End has lasted since 1799. "If the org are right"? Not gonna happen. Obviously, they've never been right before. Even if they were right, for a change, as long as you're visibly "in", you're safe. God can't read hearts... he can only judge for salvation whether people take colorful Botchtower litteratrash from the D2D dubs. If he could read hearts, the end would have come back in the first century when Jesus was a freshly killed sacrifice.

that is a very good question. I can overlook imperfection in my fellow humans. In fact I was very conscientious about doing so during Judicial hearings. But when the men who are suspossed to be shepherding the congregation do so in such a judgemental manner, often making accusations that that cannot be substantiated, so that they can feel important, I have great difficulty.
I have always had issues with some of the doctrines, but have trusted Jehovah to clarify things in his due time, and realise that the Faithful and Discreet Slave are not inspired so will get things wrong. But they seem to be getting a lot wrong - and have made comments which are Just crass. They have tried to dis-credit scientific discoveries like plate tectonics (1970's), supernovas (60's 70's) and radioactive carbon dating (I think they still do). Whilst at the same time they used pseudo science to explainthings such as how the literal heart is involved in emotion.
One I have always found very difficult to believe that animals that are obvioulsy designed to kill and eat other animals are going to eat straw. Humans sinned, not the animals, so why punish the gazelle by changing the nature of the lion. Why did the ecology of the whole planet change because Adam and Eve were misled by Satan's lies?

cantleave! Welcome. I wish I could go have a beer with you. I am in a very similar situation. When I first joined I was scarred to death, not to mention my first post. It helps to have an online group to vent to. We are all brothers / sisters...in the sense that we are all products of this crazy religion. I am a newly 'stepped down' MS, was being groomed for eldership. Even though like you, I still go through the motions, it is nice to be free from the guilt. So don't slap yourself too much with the whole 'hypocrite' thing. We can all only do what we can do.
Look forward to some more posts in the future! And: ignore Reniaa, as was mentioned. Take care!!
